Graphic designers are a vital component in the creative industries of advertising and design. The work of a graphic designer is integral to almost all aspects of business. The need for graphic designers is crucial in the development of brands, in the formulation of a company?s public image as well as in the overall strategic planning of any business. It is crucial for graphic designers to constantly upgrade their skills in the area of new technologies. This programme incorporates within the classroom key multimedia software and tools utilized in the industry. This is evident in the various components of multimedia design units in the course curriculum, such as Interactive Multimedia Design, Time Based Design and Digital Imaging. Graduates of this programme will have a strong theoretical foundation and be able to advance themselves to higher levels of study. They will also have the technical skills to ensure that they are well suited for the industry. A combination of these two factors will result in individuals who are well equipped to face today?s ever changing world.
Careers
Graduates can work as design executives, illustrators, desktop publishing specialists, graphic designers, packaging designers, web page designers, exhibition designers, set designers, multimedia designers, event production managers, corporate image designers, magazine or newspaper designers and stationery designers. This programme enables its graduates to be versatile and apply their knowledge and skills to a variety of fields including advertising, public relations, publishing, journalism, marketing, packaging and events management.
