MARINE equipment supplierJason Marine Group has launched its initial public offering (IPO) for a Catalist listing.

Mr Foo: Says three quarters of the proceeds from the IPO are to be used for investments and joint ventures in new markets

The company, which supplies marine communication and navigation systems, is offering 16 million new shares at 21 cents apiece, which is expected to raise net proceeds of about $2.1 million. Of the invitation shares, 15.5 million shares are for placement and 0.5 million shares for public offer.
The IPO is the 16th this year in Singapore, including mainboard and Catalist listings. Three quarters of the proceeds are to be used for investments and joint ventures (JVs) in new markets. This would include working with companies in Europe that develop niche products that can be added to the company's product suite, said executive chairman Joseph Foo. It will also source for JVs to extend its reach in new markets.
Jason Marine, which was started by Mr Foo about 30 years ago, has 42 per cent of its sales coming from Singapore, followed by 27.6 per cent from China, while the remainder comes from the rest of South-east Asia and parts of Europe, the Middle East and the United States.
The company's net profit for the year ended March 31, 2009 stood at $6.4 million, nearly double the preceding year's $3.3 million. The company expects more deals to come onboard from China as the country aspires to be the top shipbuilder by 2015, said Mr Foo.
While competition is expected to be more 'severe' in China and a squeeze in margins could result, there is demand for more reliable products and services since ships cannot afford to have faulty machines during their journeys, he added.
The company has seen some orders cancelled during the financial crisis but has started to see new enquiries from yards, said non-executive director Eugene Wong. 'Three quarters of the world are filled with water, you'll still need ships to move around,' quipped Mr Foo.
CIMB Bank Berhad, Singapore Branch is the sponsor and CIMB-GK Securities is the underwriter and placement agent. Applications close at noon on Oct 19 and trading of Jason Marine shares is expected to start on Oct 21.

SINGAPORE: Marine communication and navigation services provider, Jason Marine, said on Tuesday that it has garnered strong interest for its initial public offering (IPO).

Its IPO was 21.49 times subscribed, attracting some 343.7 million valid applications for a total of 16 million new shares.

The amount of application money was S$68.96 million.

Jason Marine said that it will use the IPO's net proceeds of some S$2.1 million for investments and general working capital purposes.

Going forward, the firm also said that it is looking into expanding its geographical network and may set up offices in the region's busiest ports, especially in China.

Established in 1976, Jason Marine is headquartered in Singapore and has presence in China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

日升海事集团有限公司(Jason Marine Group Limited)前日开始首次公开发售1600万股新股，每股售价0.21元，在新加坡交易所凯利板上市。它是本地目前唯一的海事电子业挂牌公司，也是亚洲及区域少数能为海事业者提供全面、全套系统综合服务的供应商。它为船只提供通讯、导航以及监控系统，也提供相关的维修与支援服务，及配合硬件销售，代理售卖卫星通讯服务(airtime services)给客户。

该集团有30多年的发展历史，初期销售电子产品，过后争取成为厂商的代理销售，并且扩展区域业务，在2000年成为系统综合业者。2004年，它成为我国“50家杰出企业”的得奖公司之一。它业务现已扩展至印尼、马来西亚、泰国和中国，客户超过1000家，包括国际船务公司、船厂、船主以及政府机构，营收80％来自现有客户。

全球经济虽衰退

集团过去两年营收仍大增

虽然过去两年经历环球金融危机、全球经济衰退，但该集团截至3月底止的2009财年营收仍达到7090万元，比08和07财年的5870万元和4070万元高出许多，期间复合年均增长率(CAGR)达到32％，显示业务仍旧强劲增长，而且营收分布在新加坡(约40％)、中国(30％)、东南亚(20％)及其他地区。它截至今年9月11日，订单达3450万元，大多数的项目预期在2011财年完成。

业务的扩展也带来盈利的增长。在07财年，其净利为160万元，08年增至330万元，09年增至640万元，期间复合年均增长率达到99.8％，而净利润率已从07年的3.9％增至09年的9％。

该公司净现金状况良好，只有330万元的债务，股东资金则达1490万元。它所发售的1600万股新股(50万股供公众认购，1550万股私下发售)，占集团扩大后股本的15.09％，0.21元的售价，历史本益比是3倍，股票申购截止日期是本月19日，预期本月21日开始交易。联昌国际银行(CIMB Bank)新加坡分行是它的保荐人，而联昌国际证券公司(CIMB-GK Securities)则是其首次公开售股的包销机构及私下发售代理机构。

我看好新加坡的电子产品消费能力，下个月进场，可考虑这支股票，打算增持改股，来投资。可能是我做这行所以我看得见，很明显，电子保修期限几乎只有一年半，每年的消费额都会增加因为新的款式出来了，也因为面值关系，有能力让他们去追风。
