What to Expect for Biotech Stocks

A few other companies are planning to announce clinical trial data in the next few months and, while those dates aren't exact, they can help investors know what to expect. GenVec (GNVC) is likely to announce interim data on its TNFerade pancreatic cancer drug sometime before the end of the month or in early April. The study is comparing the drug plus the current standard of care against the current standard of care alone.

Company: Allos Therapeutics(ALTH)
Drug: Folotyn in non-small cell lung cancer.
Allos is conducting this phase II study to demonstrate the feasibility of using Folotyn to treat certain patients with non-small cell lung cancer. Folotyn was recently launched commercially as a treatment for peripheral T-cell lymphoma, a relatively small blood cancer indication. The study in non-small cell lung cancer is important because it could potentially expand Folotyn's devlopment to larger, solid tumor cancer indications.

Company: GenVec(GNVC)
Drug: TNFerade for pancreatic cancer.
GenVec is conducting a second interim analysis of a pivotal phase III study comparing the effect on overall survival of TNFerade plus the standard of care versus standard of care alone in patients with pancreatic cancer.

Company: Medivation(MDVN)
Drug: Dimebon for Alzheimer's disease.
The phase III study of Dimebon in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease is shaping up to be one of the biggest binary events in biotech this year. Current Alzheimer's drugs are only moderately effective, so Dimebon has the potential to be a billion dollar-plus blockbuster if it can duplicate the positive results from an earlier, phase II study. Pfizer(PFE) is Medivation's partner on Dimebon.

今天是星期六做半天而已，所以可以呆遲點。

ABIO 我看她從4元上到9元都不敢進。怕她跌下來。
又1次機會溜了。。。

下星期我希望》》》 GNVC是第二只的ABIO。
還有就是 SNSS 要留意了。。。有好消息。

Today was a fun day if you were a stock trader. Shares of a tiny biotechnology company called ARCA biopharma, Inc. (ABIO) exploded higher on the following news: ARCA biopharma Announces Patent Issued for Treating Heart Failure Patients with Bucindolol Based on Genetic Testing. Arca biophrama went up over 200% but sold off going into the close. Based on my experience ( not factoring in any negative news that might come out ), stocks like ABIO tend to gap higher in pre market and run at the open on the following trading day. What will help this theory is if the stock market futures are positive on Monday. Anyway, ABIO will be active on Monday so keep an eye on it! This stock reminds me of the good old days back in 2004-2005, we had one of these stocks almost every week. Also, back in 1999-2000 we had 10 of these per day during the technology bubble.

ARCA biopharma, Inc. (ABIO) - Shares of ARCA biopharma, Inc. skyrocketed higher on Friday after the company released the following news: ARCA biopharma Announces Patent Issued for Treating Heart Failure Patients with Bucindolol Based on Genetic Testing. Arca Biophrama stock hit resistance in the $9's several times Friday afternoon and then sold off hard going into the close. I expect the stock to be very active in the first 30 minutes of trading on Monday. Resistance is located between $9.11-$9.23.

Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (SOMX) - Shares of Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. continue to be the hottest stock in 2010. Somaxon Pharmaceuticals is starting to looking toppy in the $9's right now. Keep an eye on support at $8.80, a close below this level would set up a retest of $8.25.


Sequenom Inc. (SQNM) - Shares of Sequenom Inc. continue to trade above $6.00 which is bullish. Resistance for next week is located at $6.84.


SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (SIRI)- Shares of SIRIUS XM Radio are trading back below $0.90 again after aNasdaq hearing is set for the end of April. Sirius XM Radio may have todo a reverse stock split to stay listed on the Nasdaq because the stockcontinues to trade below $1.00.

DryShips, Inc. (DRYS)- Shares of Dryships Inc remain continue to trade under $6 which is agreat buy in my opinion. When Dryships stock finally closes back above$6.20, I plan to buy.
