SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 4 (AP) -- The Utah Jazz kept Michael Redd from leading the Milwaukee Bucks to another big comeback.
The Jazz held Redd to two points in the second half and 18 points total in a 101-88 Monday night, playing Jerry Sloan's kind of defense in honor of his 999th coaching victory.
``Our guys tried very hard to keep him from getting every opportunity,'' Sloan said.
Carlos Boozer had 30 points and 13 rebounds and Mehmet Okur scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in Utah's 15th 100-point game this season.
Andrei Kirilenko scored 14 and Deron Williams had 11 points and eight assists for the Jazz, who will try to make Sloan the fifth coach to reach 1,000 victories Friday at Minnesota. |

嗨！最近爵士队的状态好象不怎么样！马刺已经追上了。。。
希望11号对垒小牛时真能像广告里一样赢球，要不然就真的糗大了 |

Kevin Garnett scored a season-high 31 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Timberwolves to their third straight victory.
MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 8 (AP) -- Kevin Garnett and Allen Iverson - the possibility of that combination lifted Garnett's spirits just minutes after a big victory over Utah.
``Bring it on, I love 'The Answer,''' Garnett said Friday night. ``We welcome A.I. with open arms. Where's Kevin McHale?''
Garnett had a season-high 31 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves over the league-leading Jazz 110-103.
That roster typically begins and ends with Garnett, who scored 16 points in the decisive third quarter. But, on Friday he got some help from Mike James with a season-high 28 points and Ricky Davis, who added 21. Minnesota has won three straight. |

SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 11 (AP) -- As much as he wanted to treat it like any other victory, Jerry Sloan had to suffer through a little adulation after the Utah Jazz gave him his 1,000th win as an NBA coach.
Jazz fans saluted Sloan with a chant of ``Jer-ry! Jer-ry!'' for the final two minutes, then a standing ovation at the end of Utah's 101-79 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday.
``That's better than hearing them boo me. I've had a few of those over the years,'' Sloan said. ``The most important thing is they were having fun because our team was playing well and I think they enjoyed that.''
After the buzzer, Sloan quietly shook hands with his players and assistant coaches, then started toward the locker room as if it were any other victory. He had to stop for a few moments as Dallas coach Avery Johnson walked all the way down the floor for one more handshake.
``He's been doing it for a long time and I went over to congratulate him. He deserves it,'' said Johnson, who has 90 wins in his short coaching career. ``He's been one of the most consistent coaches in the history of our game.''
Carlos Boozer led Utah with 31 points and 11 rebounds. He said after the game the Jazz players all signed the ball, then presented it to Sloan - whether he wanted it or not.
``That's how Coach is. Coach is one of those guys that's the same guy every day. He's not going to celebrate a big win,'' Boozer said. ``That's not who he is. He has bigger goals in mind.''
Sloan is the fifth coach to win 1,000 games. It was much more important to him that the Jazz (16-5) kept the NBA's best record and beat the defending Western Conference champion Mavericks.
``I'm glad it's behind us and now we can play basketball,'' said Sloan, who is 1,000-663 as a coach.
Deron Williams finished with 15 points and seven assists for Utah and Andrei Kirilenko had four blocks and six assists to go with his 10 points. Matt Harpring added 15 points and eight rebounds.
Dirk Nowitzki led Dallas with 26 points and 11 rebounds. No one else approached double figures on the boards for the Mavericks, who were outrebounded 42-26.
``They really got the best of us at both ends of the floor,'' Nowitzki said. ``In the third and the fourth, we couldn't really get it down to 10, eight, to make it a ballgame. You've got to give them the credit.''
Dallas has lost three of five since its 12-game winning streak.
The Mavericks had won seven of their last eight game against the Jazz, but never held a lead in their first meeting this season. |

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 13 (AP) -- Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams have provided the upstart Utah Jazz with the NBA's most effective 1-2 punch this season.
They were at their best Wednesday night.
Williams matched his career high with 28 points and had 14 assists, Boozer had 28 points and 15 rebounds, and the Jazz broke open a close game late in the third quarter to beat the short-handed Los Angeles Clippers 105-86.
Williams, 10-of-18 from the field, scored all but six of his points in the second half. Boozer shot 13-of-21.
"They're playing at an extremely high level. They're leading us in a lot of ways,'' said teammate Derek Fisher, who played with Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant - an awfully good duo - from 1996-2004 with the Los Angeles Lakers.
"They're our two studs right now,'' Utah's Jarron Collins said.
The game was the first for the Jazz since a 101-79 victory over Dallas on Monday enabled Jerry Sloan to become the fifth coach in NBA history with 1,000 career victories.
Utah has won four of five games and owns the league's best record (17-5). Not bad for a team that hasn't made the playoffs since 2003.

SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 15 (AP) -- The Sacramento Kings got a lesson in how tenuous a big lead at home can be when they blew a 21-point margin and lost to the Utah Jazz last month.
On Friday, the Kings reminded the Jazz that what happened in Sacramento can happen just as easily in Salt Lake City.
Sacramento rallied from a 16-point deficit to beat Utah 98-97, overcoming its worst period of the season with one of its best. |

INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 17 (AP) -- Utah's best defensive performance of the season gave the Jazz their first victory over Indiana in four years.
Carlos Boozer scored 18 points and Mehmet Okur added 17 to help the Jazz start a five-game trip with a 104-94 victory Sunday. Utah held the Pacers to 36.5 percent shooting, and the presence of shot-blocker Andrei Kirilenko under the basket forced Indiana to rely on its outside shooting with little result.
"We helped each other,'' Boozer said of the defense against the Pacers. "We made them take jump shots. Anytime you have the whole team aware on defense, you're going to do a good job.'' |

Utah 112, Atlanta 106 ATLANTA, Dec. 20 (AP)-- Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan wants the ball in Mehmet Okur's hands when a 3-pointer can win the game. ``He's such a wonderful shooter,'' Sloan said. ``We're always shocked when he misses a shot.'' Okur scored 30 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to help the Jazz erase a 21-point fourth-quarter deficit and beat the Atlanta Hawks 112-106 on Wednesday night. ``My teammates keep telling me, 'Shoot the ball! Shoot the ball!''' Okur said. ``We don't give up. We're not going away. We just play harder and harder every day.'' Okur's 3-pointer from the right corner all but sealed the victory with 26.4 seconds remaining. The Hawks had nobody defending Okur when he launched his jumper that gave Utah a 110-104 lead.

那场对老鹰的第四period真是够力 一举反盘 打落老鹰...看来今年西部爵士如果保持势头的话 第四名没问题 ...估计第一是马刺 第二是小妞 第三是太阳（15连胜鸟...变态 再拿下金块的话就16连胜了...没错吧？） 第四就是爵士了！！！一直没有明星的球队能够团结到这样的地步 真是让人叹为观止...火箭可要多多加油咯！！呵呵 |

carlos boozer 应该可以算是爵士的球星了，加上mehmet okur 的三分球，战绩应该可以很稳定吧 |
