EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool FC skipper Steven Gerrard slams officials for disallowing winning Merseyside derby goal

STEVEN GERRARD slammed the decision to deny Liverpool FC a last-gasp winner at Goodison Park as the skipper accused Everton captain Phil Neville of letting his manager down.

The Reds appeared to have secured victory when Luis Suarez netted in the 94th minute but the celebrations were curtailed by the offside flag and a frenetic 219th Merseyside derby ended 2-2.

Replays showed the Uruguayan was clearly onside and Gerrard insists the performance of Brendan Rodgers’ side deserved maximum points.

“I’ve seen it again and we can feel sorry ourselves because it was a clear goal,” said Gerrard.

“We should be taking away the three points rather than just one. There is no offside and it’s difficult for me to explain it. The only person who can explain it is the linesman.

“I asked him after the game if it was offside and he said ‘I think so’. That’s not good enough. If every decision in this league is based on ‘we think so’ then we’re in trouble.

“The linesman got it badly wrong. The benefit of the doubt is supposed to go to the attacking player anyway.

“And for their second goal, it’s a clear throw-in to us. The linesman gives us the throw but the referee (Andre Marriner) saw something different. He gave Everton the throw and their second goal came from that.

“I feel sorry for our lads because I thought we were fantastic today and deserved to win.

“We had a young, small team out there but they were all men today and stuck together. There was one team here who came to play football and win the game and that was us.”

Gerrard was angered by Neville’s dive just before half-time which earned the Blues skipper a booking.

It followed David Moyes’ scathing criticism of Suarez before the game when he said he feared the Uruguayan would try to con referee Andre Marriner.

Gerrard believes Suarez, who celebrated with a swallow dive in front of Moyes after his shot was deflected in off Leighton Baines for the opening goal, was inspired by the Everton manager’s comments.

Suarez went on to grab his eighth goal of the campaign before Leon Osman and Steven Naismith restored parity by the interval.

“I think Phil Neville badly let his manager down today,” added Gerrard.

“His manager did every paper, every radio station and every TV channel talking about Luis Suarez and then his captain, who is meant to be setting an example, blatantly dives.

“If David Moyes is a real man and a real manager, which I think he is, then he will be speaking to Phil Neville about it.

“With what he said about Luis Suarez before, David Moyes was trying to get in the referee’s head, which is fine, that’s all part of the game stuff like that, but you don’t expect your captain to dive like that.

“Luis Suarez was fantastic for us again today. I can’t control what he does when he scores a goal, I was just happy to see it hit the back of the net. He doesn’t need David Moyes to fire him up. But if people want to try to get in Luis’ head and wind him up then it’s the wrong thing to do.

“You saw from today’s evidence that it seems to inspire him rather than go against him.”

Gerrard praised Rodgers for the tactical switch the Reds boss made at half-time. He brought on Sebastian Coates and Jonjo Shelvey for Suso and Nuri Sahin and changed to a 3-5-2 formation.

It wasn’t something Liverpool had worked on but having Coates as a third centre-back and greater numbers in midfield helped the visitors regain control.

“I think it was an off the cuff decision and credit to the manager for that,” Gerrard said.

“That’s one of the reasons why he got the Liverpool job. He’s capable of making big decisions at big times.

“Everton were very direct in the first half and were getting on the second balls. The plan in the second half was to go 3-5-2 and try to stop the long balls coming in.

“Once we stopped that we passed through Everton and looked very dangerous on the break.”

Keeper Pepe Reina wasn’t deemed fit enough to play after his recent struggles with injury and Rodgers took the decision not to risk full-back Glen Johnson, who had gone off against Anzhi three days earlier with a tight hamstring.

证明我军球迷严格且有骨气，赢球靠裁判和侥幸胜出，不是我们的作风。有这样的情况，球迷自然会自我纠正。而不像某队球迷那样无耻，赢球就好，而不管什么手段。难道你要我军球迷那么没骨气，像别人那样一直为自己的球队找借口，即使赢得那么的无耻？

还有，想说说SUAREZ。


我知道自己的球迷也有些不喜欢他。

不过从昨天开始，我看透了，我爱定他。
足球场上假摔的球员大把，不过被放大的只有他而已。太妃糖队长都自己假摔拿黄卡，打了moyes一巴掌。别队的更是佼佼者。
所以讨厌suarez是愚蠢的行为。


昨天他用另类庆祝方式来回应moyes，好笑到。我超喜欢他。

“FA”应该要立案让那些有误判失误的裁判接下来停吹比赛几场以示惩罚～就如球员红卡下场下轮都停赛啦～赛果已经改变不了，但至少要有个交代，而不是只是裁判一句“i’m think so” or “i‘m so sorry”就过去了...


还有球门线鹰眼技术快点落实pls～就不会有那么多冤案了。

下半场比赛打得十分平淡，颜强点评道：“下半场和上半场相比就是一个反高潮，上半场比赛释放得太浓烈，下半场双方都十分保守。”对于本场比赛发挥出色的苏亚雷斯，颜强也不吝溢美之词：“苏亚雷斯只要上场就是绝不惜力的球员。而且他十分聪明每次都是贴着对方过人，就像灵蛇一样。”最后时刻苏亚雷斯还打入一粒进球，不过被裁判吹罚越位，但慢镜头显示这球并不越位，颜强感叹道：“这是主场优势最后的灵光闪现吗？”

对于本场比赛，颜强总结道：“比赛的过程十分曲折，上半场惊心动魄，下半场大多数时间十分平淡，最后才掀起了波澜，也许是在为稍后的红蓝大战做垫场。”

真正讨厌他假摔的不多，而是讨厌他糟糕的finishing。希望他可以保持现在的状态，越来越好，越来越多贡献和入球，相信球迷会忽视他其他行为，而真心喜欢他的。对于前锋来说，入球就是王道。
