1 "His armband proved he was a Red.."

s the 2006/07 season drew to a close, Torres' future at his boyhood club Atletico Madrid was already the subject of much speculation, with Liverpool linked as possible suitors.

He was spotted wearing a captain's armband bearing the inscription, "You'll Never Walk Alone", during Atleti's match against Real Sociedad on April 21 and later admitted “My group of mates have got that logo tattooed on their arms.

“I have been told about Anfield and how special it is, but I haven’t managed to go yet. I would like to, though.”

Within months of his arrival at Anfield, this incident was incorporated in a Kop homage to the Spanish striker and Reds fans have been bouncing to it ever since.

2 Anfield debut against Chelsea, August 2007

After playing his part in the opening day win at Aston Villa, Torres' first appearance at Anfield gave reassurance to all concerned that the record transfer fee paid out by Liverpool had been money well spent.

His first goal for the club just a quarter of an hour in was a thing of beauty, receiving Steven Gerrard's inviting pass outside before the box before gliding past Tal Ben Haim and sliding an unerring finish beyond Petr Cech.

Reds fans will have been just as encouraged however by their new striker's sturdiness in the face of Chelsea skipper John Terry's customary tactics of intimidation.

The two enjoyed a physical battle throughout the game but every time Terry tried to get in Torres' face, the Spaniard didn't back down, showing he would not be cowed and possessed the necessary stomach for the fight.


3 Linking up with Steven Gerrard

Anfield has been blessed with many great striking partnerships down the years and virtually from the moment they started playing together, Torres and Steven Gerrard have been on the same wavelength.

Playing in a more advanced role than the centre midfield position where he made his name, Gerrard has become expert in reading the Spanish striker's movement and picking him out but Torres himself has repaid the compliment on many occasions, the duo's exploits tearing defences asunder at home and across Europe.

Torres raced away to salute the away end with his arm raised and five fingers extended, perhaps unintentionally, reminding the home crowd how many European Cups the side he was playing for had won.



Vidic's afternoon meanwhile was not to get any better as he hauled down Steven Gerrard as he raced clear on goal midway through the second half and was sent off by referee Alan Wiley, one of three successive red cards he suffered in matches against Liverpool.

Torres didn't enjoy the happiest time in South Africa as he struggled to find fitness and form following a difficult season at Anfield but he had a hand in Andres Iniesta's late winning goal in the Final against Holland and was pictured after the game with the trophy and a Reds scarf on.

50-50 chance of Suarez deal
Ajax coach on hopeful striker will stay[/color

Ajax coach Frank de Boer has admitted that the chances of Luis Suarez moving to Liverpool are '50-50'.

Liverpool are still locked in talks with Ajax over a proposed deal for the Uruguayan striker.

The Dutch club are so far standing by their valuation of the player and will not relent, insisting if a deal is not done before Sunday then there will be no move.

"Liverpool has a major delegation to Amsterdam to negotiate Suarez. I think the chances are 50-50 that Suarez continues with us," admitted de Boer.

"They know what we want for Suarez. Luis is gone when they pay that amount.

"I expected them to come with a higher bid."

Suarez is understood to be keen to make the move, but De Boer has no worries about his motivation should he stay put.

"He understands that we just won't let him go," he said.

"I am also confident that he will give everything for Ajax if the transfer falls through. Suarez understands how we stand.

"He is incredibly important to us. It also costs tons of money if we are not in the Champions League places.''

冬季转会市场仅剩4天就要关闭时，英国多家媒体曝出惊天消息：切尔西打算重启托雷斯的转会，英国媒体随后跟进报道称，切尔西老板阿布拉莫维奇到周末将报价提高到6000万英镑。这个消息也得到了西班牙足球专家，现为英国天空体育记者巴拉格的证实。在自己的专栏中，巴拉格透露，托雷斯本人以及其经纪人都希望利物浦能够慎重考虑切尔西的报价。

众所周知，巴拉格掌握着英超几乎所有西班牙籍球员的一手信息。当年托雷斯离开马竞加盟利物浦前夕，去年夏天法布雷加斯希望加盟巴萨，也是他率先爆料的。

西班牙的《阿斯报》发表的巴拉格署名文章称，托雷斯的经纪人安东尼奥-马丁希望利物浦方面“能够慎重考虑来自切尔西4600万欧元(4000万英镑)的报价”。同样的事情也发生在去年夏天，世界杯结束后有关托雷斯可能离开利物浦的传言四起，原因同样是金童的经纪人表示“我不敢保证他还留在利物浦”，从而引发曼城和切尔西的追逐。不过金童表达自己效忠利物浦的决心，才让流言消散。

托雷斯本人是否有想离开利物浦的意愿？据巴拉格透露，经纪人的推波助澜，让圣婴产生出转会的念头。而且经纪人已经要求利物浦开启讨论转会谈判的可能性。由于英超俱乐部不像西甲球队在与球员签订合约时附上巨额违约金，所以托雷斯是否离队决定权就在利物浦手中。

红军阿贾克斯继续谈判 最终转会费分歧达500万

利物浦继续就苏亚雷斯的转会在跟阿贾克斯谈判，不过双方的最新出价以及要价依然存在500万欧元的差距……

《天空体育》透露，利物浦继续就苏亚雷斯的转会与阿贾克斯展开了谈判，尽管双方目前仍未能就转会费的问题达成协议，不过红军的最新出价与阿贾克斯的要价只差500万欧元了。

阿贾克斯在当地时间周四晚上在荷兰杯4-1击败了雷达，俱乐部的高层继续与来自利物浦的代表就苏亚雷斯的转会展开谈判，但是双方在转会费方面仍存在分歧。

据报道，阿贾克斯已经把要价降低到2500万欧元，但利物浦最新的出价为2000万欧元，双方还存在500万欧元的差价。随着冬季转会市场即将关闭，现在就看谁先作出让步了。

阿贾克斯主帅弗兰克-德波尔在击败雷达后表示，他希望能留住苏亚雷斯，不过此举可能是在给红军施加压力，让利物浦继续加价。

“在我的内心深处，我是希望下一场周日对NAC的比赛仍可以使用苏亚雷斯。”德波尔告诉荷兰电视台。“利物浦知道他们必须支付多少钱，如果他们在周末前出价，那么我们还有时间完成转会。”

其实利物浦和阿贾克斯的分歧已经逐步减少，最初利物浦的出价仅为1500万欧元，是阿贾克斯要价的一半，现在阿贾克斯已经降低了要价，而利物浦也提高了出价，双方距离达成协议只差500万欧元。

英国媒体指出，雷纳成为弗格森的头号目标，曼联在今夏将出2000万英镑引进这位利物浦门神来接班范德萨……

《每日星报》透露，弗格森计划在今夏花2000万英镑去引进利物浦门将雷纳来顶替届时退役的荷兰门将范德萨。
