- Korea is a very nice country, I will be visiting again. My advise as follows :-
1) 1st day must visit "Namdaemun" (南大門），change money and get the latest up dated subway map & travel information. You know what, the subway map I down loaded from subway website is not up to date really make me crazy when I travel to 南怡島。Every time I take a subway ride must "run" to find the map but all in Korea language. In Namdaemun market (junction), you can see a information booth and besides got another booth with a beautiful "obasan" money changer with a good rates than "Myeongdong"（明洞）。Actually I got an information on "Cari" saying Mingdong got a lot of money changer but 1st day I can't found any, at the end I got it but you have to walk all the way in till the end. Mingdong very big, shopping great but things very expensive. It's like KL golden triangle area.
2) I highly recommended you stay in “女子大學” area. If shopping, you may get a mid range price, road side got different style of food store. The business hour for this area quite long, the next day will only open after 11am. Actually most of the shopping area in Seoul business hour is around 10 - 11pm. Road side food store till mid night. "Dongdaemun" is open till the next morning around 5 to 6am but this area is more to wholesale. They also sell retail but beware of accessories, most of them only do wholesale business. I don't really like this place coz too big yet got to spend a lot of time here.
3) Namdaemun got one shop selling traditional Korean noodles very nice yet cheap (5000Won) and also big portion. The shop is small but you can see a lot of people then that is the one. Out side the shop got a big banner showing they ever interview by TV station. If full house you may go up stair. Namdaemun is a good place to get your souvenir, you can go to a shop, more choice yet price reasonable. Don't buy at the small cart or booths, I ever bought here but end up is more cheaper in the shop and when you buy more the "obasan" even give you a small gift and a little discount.
4) Regarding the N Tower, if you are not using a professional camera better go on day time. Night time can't snap a nice photo with ordinary camera. About the Teddy Bear Museum actually not worth to visit because small yet nothing much inside. Ticket not cheap too! (Forgotten how much) I'm staying in Namsan Guesthouse where is the way up to N Tower. If you plan to go there you may find Namsan Guesthouse in MyeongDong than walk up to a small hill, from there you buy a ticket to take a cable car to the N Tower.
5) In Seoul, stay in guesthouse is the best. We just need a clean place for a rest at night, no point spending money to stay in hotel.
6) Place to visit is depending on how many days do you have. If you are a 1st timer there, most of the place is interesting to you and you may spend more time because of "Curiosity". Lotte World (indoor) & Everland (Outdoor, about 2hrs journey from Seoul) is like a Disneyland. Temple, I just able to visit 景福宮。For more info please search from CARI website. I have forgotten, sorry for that.
7) Thing must buy in Korea for sure is MASK, SKIN CARE & COSMETIC. If you are not fancy for "Branded", may get it at "女子大學" area. I grabbed a lot of mask here, is less than RM1/pc. Skin Food, Faceshop etc is much more cheaper than in Malaysia. If you wish to get a branded goods such as LV, Gucci, Burrberry, etc may go to LOTTE MART duty free shop.
8) I visited on the 1st week of Nov 2011, not cold. Wear a wind breaker will do. By the way, The weather is like Genting Highland during my visit. I guess around 20 degree.
9) Immigration, Custom and Tax Rebate Counter personnel got a very bad attitude in Korea. Besides this people, the rest will be extremely good, friendly and helpful as well. If you wish to make a big shop in Korea and intend to claim for a tax refund, I'm strongly advice you to choose with the "RED" tax logo shop coz able to get refund in cash instantly. "BLUE GLOBE" you got to fill up the tax rebate form and they will send you a cheque. I got my cheque more than 3 months end up I didn't bank in coz they issued my name wrongly. By the way, the Tax Refund Counter I went to is after go thru the Custom and Immigration where is further inside. They close at 9pm if not mistaken. Myeongdong FOREVER 21 shop upstair floor (forgot which floor) able to make the tax refund.
