These dogs belong to a hoarder under the guise of a rescuer and Good Samaritan. The man had spent years accumulating dogs in spite of having no inkling about how to care for them. He never vaccinates or neuters and as a result – it’s easy for his dogs to be infected with communicable canine diseases and they also rapidly increase in numbers. Although he has been advised numerous times to register an organization and form a committee to manage his ‘sanctuary’ – the man had refused to do so. He would instead go to other rescue groups and rescuers and ask for money and food for his dogs. It is believed he had also received financial help from many quarters but the sad plight of his dogs remained the same. We also know for a fact that the SPCAs in two states have rendered him much help – but have since given-up on him. We don’t blame them. He used to have a worker to help him but does not have one anymore and the dogs are neglected and not fed. All the puppies have either died of diseases or killed by the starving adult dogs. Most of the dogs under his ‘care’ are currently infected with distemper and are dropping dead like flies. Although he had over a 100 dogs not too long ago – the number has dwindled to about 65 to date. We are now working together with MDDB – and hope more rescue groups will join this effort - to clear this mess and to ensure that this man does not hoard anymore. We will be getting a vet to administer a drug that helps treat distemper and hope for the best. However, the dogs will have to be fed antibiotics and immune boosters on a daily basis and we need extra volunteers in addition to our own people to help out. We have asked the SPCA in the state the ‘sanctuary’ is located to help out as well and we hope they will agree to do so. We have to do this and we have to ensure that hoarders such as this man is brought to book and prevented from continuing to hoard. Please support us in this endeavor. 男子棄顧百隻狗瀕餓死‧保護動物組織發起“救狗行動”

（森美蘭‧芙蓉12日訊）一名在雪森兩州收容逾百隻流浪狗的印裔男子，最近一個月棄狗不顧，導致逾百頭流浪狗餓得瘦骨嶙峋，一些還患上嚴重皮膚病，國內保護動物組織發起“救狗行動”，呼吁愛狗者響應。

這名數年前開始收留流浪狗的印裔男子甘尼森（57歲），是一名退休公務員，有不少愛狗人士之前得知他的善舉後紛紛捐助狗糧、物資及金錢等。

收留者不知去向

然而，甘尼森最近一個月不知去向，導致他在吉隆坡和芙蓉收容的流浪狗在無人照顧下，隻隻餓得骨瘦如柴。

本報記者今日隨同2名義工前往甘尼森位於芙蓉的收容所，發現甘尼森聘請照顧狗隻的2名印度籍工人不知所蹤。

收容所目前僅剩65隻狗兒，全部餓得瘦骨嶙峋，兩排肋骨清楚可見，此外，幾乎所有狗兒都患上嚴重的皮膚病，毛髮稀落。

由於無人打理，收容所的衛生情況非常糟糕，無水電供應，到處是狗糞及食物殘渣，蒼蠅滿天飛。

義工烏瑪告訴星洲日報，目前狗兒最需食物及醫藥援助，由於工作及時間關係，她只能隔天上門餵狗，慶幸獲得其他義工響應。

收容所征求狗糧

目前發動援助行動的是大馬獨立動物救援協會（MIAR）及大馬善待狗兒協會（MDDB），他們將安排時間為狗兒沖涼及治療，同時希望為狗兒找到一個安頓地點。

義工們指出，目前收容所每週需要10包各重達20公斤的狗糧。

甘尼森曾登報籌款養狗

甘尼森之前曾聯絡本報芙蓉辦事處記者，要求第三度刊登新聞向大眾籌款，後來記者基於長貧難顧，建議他尋求動物保護組織的援助，但他不願意其他人介入。

數天後，甘尼森再度聯絡本報記者，表示不願再照顧狗兒，還說：“就讓牠們死了吧”。

據瞭解，收容所是甘尼森向一名地主租用，甘尼森當時說租金是逾千令吉，但根據MIAR負責人布斯巴向地主瞭解，甘尼森已7個月沒有繳付租金。

布斯巴表示，地主已經發出驅趕令，所以他們希望一些園丘或芭主認領狗兒，他們將會提供所有醫療援助。（星洲日報／花城）
