tara度母这个名词也是印度教里有的,后人把她说成某菩萨化身云云。
看看印度教的tara吧。

Completely off any tourist trail, this is a rare opportunity to experience the goddess temples of West Bengal and Assam.
Shaktipeeths are powerful goddess temples purported to house a piece of the body of Shiva’s first wife Sati. According to legend, Shiva went into a frenzy after the death of his wife Sati, and while holding her dead body began dancing the tandava, a dance reserved for the end of the kaliyuga, making the whole world tremble. The gods attempted to stop him in various ways, and finally Vishnu took his solar discus and chopped the disintegrating corpse into 108 bits. The spot were each piece fell became a pitha, or pilgrimage site, for worshippers of the female principle of divinity – Shakti. Of the 108 peeths, 54 are said to be known, and 54 are hidden. 13 of the known 54 shaktipeeths are found in West Bengal and are particularly relevant to tantrik Hinduism, the several aspects of Kali, the goddess of time and destruction, to Tara, and the Mahavidyas.
In addition there are nearby several Goddess shrines associated with a shakti-cluster of ten goddesses known as the Dasha-Mahavidyas or the Ten Great Transcendental Wisdoms. We will also visit Vasishtha Ashram, a sacred place surrounded by hills and water falls where the sage Vasistha practiced austerities (tapasya) for the Goddess Tara.
