TM = TradeMark
R   = Register

Actually when your business have a logo, you can choose to either trademark the logo or the name or both. It is very important because it considered as intellecture property where you can protect your business and the identity of your business. When the search is done and nobody is using the same logo you can start with application and this process need 1 1/2 year time. But during this period your logo still will be protected by TM(trademark). After the process done your logo will be classified under registered (R).

我稍微解釋當中的區別, 若有錯請更正.

在商品註冊商標的過程中, 需要經過一年的時間, 需要這麼長時間的原因是要檢查這商標是否已經有人註冊, 因此在這段過渡期間可以在你註冊的商標旁邊放個TM, 代表該商標正在進行註冊階段.

如果該商標在檢查並未被註冊, 而代表你的註冊已經通過後, 就會改為®.
