Poor response to BEST service
THE passenger count for the free Bridge Express Shuttle Transit (BEST) service remains below expectations after it was first launched on March 1.
State Local Government, Traffic Management and Environment Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow said after 13 working days of operation, the highest number of commuters in a day was only 368.
“We can say that the figure has stabilised to around 300. I think we (the state government) will be unhappy if we do not reach 800 (passengers),” he said.
He said the project would only be deemed successful if the number of commuters reached 800, given the amount spent on it.
Penang is spending RM160,000 a month for the system while public bus provider Rapid Penang is giving a RM16,000 monthly discount from its original quotation of RM176,000 per month.
Chow said the capacity of BEST was easily over 1,000 commuters, given the number of trips and buses available.
“We’ll continue to call on factory operators to promote the service among their workers,” he told reporters during a ‘Park and Ride’ trip from Jalan Bukit Jambul on the island to the bus stop near Sunway Carnival Mall in Seberang Jaya on the mainland.
Information Technology services officer Gary Tan, who had been using the service since it started, gave his full endorsement.
“It saves me time and money. Also, I am not stressful any more as I can just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride,” said Tan.
Customer service officer Lim Swee Kim, 40, felt the routes need to be reconsidered.
She suggested that routes with high volume of commuters be given priority.
Under the BEST shuttle system, 16 Rapid Penang buses ferry commuters from Seberang Jaya between 5.30am and 8.10am to factories in the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone (FIZ) from Monday to Friday.
The buses then make return trips starting from the bus stop outside Kompleks Bukit Jambul in Bayan Baru through the FIZ between 4.30pm and 7.30pm, with 20 trips provided.

高峰期时的搭客都是aim八点前上班的
每个路线要上三百人才有机会继续下去 |

今天坐我后面那个乘客生病，一直咳嗽，口臭味也一直飞来前面被我嗅到。好难受。请生病的乘客带上口罩，注意卫生，注意别人的感受！  |

他們用的是flat graph的計算方式，都不懂要用bell curve來預估人數的。
如果真的要1000人的話，豈不每班車都要爆滿才行？？？
這是不可能的事啊。最早和最遲的，誰要坐？ |

其实你们m 公司还有很多人没搭 Best 的， 看 carpark 的车辆就知道， 那么大的carpark同样那么多车.
建议给你老板
1. 给津贴给搭 Best 的 员工 （ + RM300 每个月）
2. 送 jacket
3. 送 t shirt
4. 送 kantin free lunch + free breakfast + free tea break （ 每天） |
