In a surprising turn of events, it appears Chelsea are in with a chance to sign Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara, according to the Daily Mail. After much speculation that Cesc Fabregas would be joining the Catalan club, Alcantara dropped a bombshell by claiming he would leave if Fabregas was to join.

The highly rated Spanish Under 21 star believes Fabregas’ arrival will see him left on the bench for much of the season and is willing to leave in order to avoid that. The claims have alerted the Blues who are looking to bring in some young talent and reduce the overall age of the squad.

However, it is believed that Alcantara could possibly be used as a makeweight to seal the deal with Arsenal for their club captain.
