Adam hints at exit as Blackpool skipper admits he wants to play 'at the top of the tree'

Blackpool captain Charlie Adam admits he wants to play 'at the top of the tree' one day but insists he is not affected by ongoing speculation about his future.
Adam has been linked with several clubs, including Liverpool, during the January transfer window, with the Seasiders rejecting bids of ￡2.5million and ￡3.5m for him from Aston Villa, as well as an offer from Birmingham.
His manager Ian Holloway is adamant the 25-year-old will not be sold to Villa and has indicated he would only be prepared to let Adam leave if a substantial offer came in from one of the Barclays Premier League's biggest outfits.


The player himself has lofty aspirations, although Adam, who was instrumental in Blackpool's promotion to the top flight last year and has continued to impress this term, is happy to just get on with it for the time being.
'It really isn't difficult to ignore all the talk,' said Adam, quoted in the Blackpool Gazette.

'I am a footballer and I want to keep playing well, and hopefully I can play for many years.

'There is going to be speculation about lads at Blackpool because the players are playing well. You can't stop speculation, so you just get on with it.

'Everybody has something to say about football, everybody has an opinion. Some people like it, some people don't. You get on with it.
'The bottom line is that everybody knows I want to play at the highest level. I want to play at the top of the tree, as they say.
'This has been a fantastic part of my life coming to Blackpool, and it has been fantastic being part of this club and working with this manager.
'At the end of the day everybody has ambition and I want to play at the highest level I can. Hopefully one day it will happen.'

Ryan Babel looks poised to leave Liverpool in his fourth season at Anfield, but his agent has revealed that he will only join Hoffenheim if a move to Ajax falls through.

Babel, who has scored 22 goals in 146 appearances, is negotiating personal terms with the German club after they agreed a fee, believed to be €7 million, with Liverpool. However agent Winnie Haatrecht says the move will only happen if he is unable secure a return to former club Ajax.

''Hoffenheim will only be an option if Ryan isn't allowed to go on loan to Ajax or they do not want him,'' he said.

The player himself spoke on Tuesday of his hope for a loan move back to Holland - and stated that deal could form part of Ajax striker Luis Suarez's potential transfer to Liverpool.

Liverpool are reported to be interested in Uruguay striker Suarez, who scored three times at the 2010 World Cup before his infamous sending-off for a goal-line handball in the quarter-final against Ghana, but no offer has been made.
"Babel would be an interesting project but nothing is done. There might be news later this week," an Ajax source said. "We want to keep Luis and only obscene offers would be enough."

The Holland international's Anfield three-and-a-half year career was effectively ended yesterday when Hoffenheim had a bid of £5.8m accepted.
Babel flew out to Germany last night to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms with the Bundesliga club, and his transfer to the German club could pave the way for Senegal striker Demba Ba to leave for West Ham.
Ba, 25, had previously refused to join his Hoffenheim team-mates on a mid-winter getaway to force through a move to Stoke, but that deal collapsed after he failed a medical.
But he would prefer a move to Amsterdam and hopes Ajax and Liverpool - who are already in negotiations over Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez - can reach an agreement.
Winnie Haatrecht, Babel's agent, said: 'Hoffenheim will only become an option if he is not allowed to go out on loan or Ajax do not want him.'
Babel is even prepared to take a pay cut and said: 'If Liverpool and Ajax - whether in combination with Luis - can reach an agreement over me I will surely come to the club. For the chance to play I am willing to settle for far less pay.'中文........

Report: Suarez Liverpool talks accelerate

Liverpool's courting of Ajax and Uruguay star Luis Suarez appears to be nearing its climax, as club owner John Henry and his wife Linda Pizzuti were photographed at dinner with Suarez's agent, Pere Guardiola on Tuesday night in London.

According to Daily Mail, talks at the dinner "accelerated" over the proposed deal, with Metro adding that the meeting suggested that a deal would be done in a matter of days.

Frank De Boer, boss of Suarez's current club, Ajax, still isn't so convinced that a transfer is imminent.

"Luis feels good and is training well, I don't think he will leave at any cost," he said, also adding that "only when an absurd amount is on the table should we let him go."

That "absurd" value is said to be £27 million ($43.18 million), the fee paid for former Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko, but Liverpool is said to think that Suarez can be acquired for just £15 million ($24 million).

Regardless of fee, it does appear that Suarez is keen on a move to Anfield and that Liverpool leadership and ownership are actively working through such a transaction.中文

Coentrao admits Anfield interest

Liverpool have been boosted in the race to sign Portuguese international left back Fabio Coentrao.

The Benfica defender has been linked with an Anfield switch in recent months, and has now revealed his personal feelings towards Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool side.

"I love Liverpool," Coentrao is re-quoted as saying on Live4Liverpool.

The 11 cap international also admitted that it was nice to be tracked by Real Madrid, and that being coached by the 'Special One' would be difficult to turn down.

"Who would not want to be coached by Mourinho?"

A product of the Rio Ave youth system, Coentrao joined Benfica in 2007. After three loans the following season, the player settled well into the Águias first team and has been a regular for the past two years.

Manchester United have also previously taken an interest in the player, and were again linked less than a week ago by the Daily Mail.

It is Liverpool who have been following the player more closely in recent months though, with scouts reportedly sent to watch the 22-year-old wingback at the Estádio da Luz.

Dalglish has been promised money to spend at Anfield by the club's new owners, NESV, and a left back is thought to be high on the Liverpool agenda in an effort to cover the under-performing Paul Konchesky.

The Reds would hope to negotiate a deal lower than the £20 million valuation, and Liverpool could face competition for the player were an offer for the highly-rated player accepted.中文啊~

Contrary to internet reports yesterday, Liverpool's principal owner John W Henry did not meet the player's agent, Pere Guardiola, at London's San Carlo restaurant on Tuesday night.
