Friedman: Movie, Soundtrack Have New Song
(21-9-2009) Here’s something new I can tell you now exclusively: Michael Jackson’s “This is It” film will include a brand new song, which Michael wrote for the tour.
The song is called “This is It.” After Jackson died, it was finished by producer John McClain, who is also one of Michael’s executors.
The new song will be included in the film and on the two-CD soundtrack scheduled for release right after the movie has its two-week run. I told you months ago when the movie was being shopped that it would be accompanied by a soundtrack. As I pointed out, Jackson has never had a “live” album.
Even the Jackson family should be surprised by the new song, but they’ll hear it when they see the first draft of the movie, sources say, in the next week.
Joe Jackson: 'Michael had a childhood'
Joe Jackson has rejected claims by his late son Michael that he never had a childhood.
Speaking to German newspaper Bild, Joe said that he limited Michael andhis brothers' exposure to other children for their own good.
Joe said: "He claimed he had no childhood, but that's not true. Thetruth is that I didn't want to allow my kids to play with the kids ofthe neighbourhood. It was a no-good neighbourhood where we lived.
"The children from then are now drug addicts or have gone to prison. Iwanted to protect my children from that. Michael had eight siblings whocould play with. They frolicked, played basketball."
He continued: "I took the boys firmly in hand, that's true. But I alsopromised to make them the greatest stars in the world. That was theplan and they agreed.
"I smacked them sometimes but not constantly. How could I do that? Iwas rarely at home. I had two jobs to earn the money for theirinstruments and I had to feed a 11-person family. I abused nobody. Iinsist on that!
"Back then it was like that. If a child didn't toe the line then theygot slapped in the face. The teacher at school did that also. Nowadaysthe methods of education are different and I would act differently."
Joe added: "It was difficult, I was his father and also his manager. It's difficult to divide, you know, we were black people in a businessdominated by white people.
"I knew Michael could become bigger than Elvis, but the white peoplewould never allow it. I had to lead Michael through a shark tank. Andif you ask me, he became bigger than Elvis."
