Gareth Bale has suffered what appears to be a serious injury in the opening minutes of Tottenham's game against Newcastle United at St James' Park.
The 21-year-old has been in fine form this season with seven goals to his name already and has been an integral part of Spurs' title bid.
However, the news could be worse for Harry Redknapp, had he not captured the signature of Steven Pienaar in the week who can play in Bale's postion on the left flank.
Bale has been tipped by many to win the Player of the Year award for his magnificent performances this season, following on from last term when he made his mark as Spurs stormed into fourth place in the Premier League.
He could now potentially miss Tottenham's trip to San Siro when they play AC Milan in the first knockout round of the Champions League.
There have been fears of Bale suffering potential burn-out considering the amount of games the Welsh international has played over the last six months, and any lay-off will surely disappoint manager Harry Redknapp considering Bale's impact at White Hart Lane this season
