AirAsia shares dip below IPO price

AIRASIA Bhd, the region’s largest low-fare airline, fell below the price of its 2004 initial public offering for the first time in Kuala Lumpur trading on concern near-record jet-fuel prices will erode profit.

The stock dropped 5.1 per cent to RM1.11 at 2:54 pm. That compares with the benchmark Kuala Lumpur Composite Index’s 0.9 per cent decline. The company sold shares in its November 2004 IPO at RM1.16 apiece.

AirAsia has plunged 43 per cent in the past year as a near doubling of jet-fuel prices, most Asian airlines’ biggest expense, boosts costs. The carrier is also facing increasing competition from Malaysian Airline System Bhd, the nation’s largest carrier, which has cut fares and given away free tickets to win travelers.

“I’ve heard some rumors about possibly weaker-than-expected earnings” at AirAsia, said Vincent Khoo, head of research at Aseambankers Malaysia Bhd in Kuala Lumpur. He rates the carrier, which is due to report earnings on May 29, “fully valued.”

AirAsia, based in Sepang, Malaysia, boosted passenger numbers 21 per cent in the first quarter from a year earlier, it said on May 9. Spokeswoman Janet Leow didn’t immediately reply to a mobile-phone text message and calls to her phone didn’t connect.

MAS, scheduled to report first-quarter earnings today, this month set aside as much as 30 per cent of seats on Southeast Asian routes for low fares and promised 1 million free domestic flights.

Fuel Price

Jet-fuel prices closed at a record US$162.55 a barrel on May 14 in Singapore trading.

AirAsia, run by chief executive officer Datuk Tony Fernandes, is among the 18 budget carriers that started flying in South and Southeast Asia in the past five years as economic growth in the region fueled demand for air travel.

Increasing competition and fatal crashes prompted some budget airlines in Asia to shut down this year, while others have postponed share sales. Budget carriers in India and Thailand have postponed plans for initial public offerings as competition crimps profitability.

In Indonesia, PT Adam Skyconnection Airlines stopped flying in March because it ran out of funds. Oasis Hong Kong Airlines Ltd, the budget carrier that challenged Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd on some of its most profitable routes, ceased operations last month, crippled by high landing fees and rising oil prices. - Bloomberg

亞航股份浸下面的首次公開招股價格

在下午2時54分，股價下跌了5.1 ％ ，以rm1.11相比，其2004年11月首次公開招股在rm1.16

這樣等於當時的上市價也快要到了，如果不幸再跌破開市價錢，那真是可憐了。

連兩地的私人飛行公司也虧本，如果再加上石油價還不下跌的話，那加上和馬航玩對抗價錢，最終自已走上毀滅之路還在怪馬航有政府背後支援馬航的運作，在這動亂的石油里，如不好好運用下來資金，我看最壞打算就要向股東拿錢了，銀行照講也不太可能會在借款給亞航應付這嚴重的開銷。

亞航就是不肯向政治底頭，又不幸遇到有政府背後支援的馬航，那這埸戰爭，只要馬航把亞航拉到死死的話，那亞航不是破產就是流動現金會出現嚴重的危機了。

难道set target buying price 时， 没想过airasia 会有这样的困境？

其实我忍了两个月多就是要等最新报告出炉。。。。。应该会轰动吧。。。。到时候再研究。。。。。不敢这么快下决定，因为不清楚原油涨价到底影响利润多少％。也没有资料可以参考她到底成功HEDGE掉多少油价的涨价？

买 RM1.30 x 5 lots, 卖 RM1.12 x 5 lots !! 亏损 RM 1K。我太慢cut loss. 我相信RM１K 可以从其他share赚。。。。。

这是个市场给的价， 他在块三时， 你也会认为他只直块三， 并没有所谓的低估

Dewan Rakyat: AirAsia owes MAHB RM100mil                                                                                                                               
KUALA LUMPURow-cost carrier AirAsia owes Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB)more than RM100mil for its use of airports in the country, saidTransport Minister Datuk Ong Tee Keat.

He said AirAsia owed MAHB RM110.36mil since 2002 until March 31.

Theminister who was replying to matters raised during winding up thedebate on the motion of thanks on the royal address, said AirAsia feltthat the rates were "too high" and had appealed for the amount to bereduced.

“AirAsia did not agree with the outstanding balance andhad asked for a lower rate, so the matter has been forwarded to theFinance Ministry," he told Wee Choo Keong (PKR – Wangsa Maju).

Hesaid the debts included RM5.4mil that the low cost carrier owed when itwas operating the Rural Air Services (RAS) in Sabah and Sarawak.

Ong also clarified that the Government had never marginalized said Malaysia Airlines.

Women,Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen saidscheduled welfare aid would be paid to the needy on the 5th of everymonth, while the approval for welfare support could be obtained withintwo weeks.

She said the Community Welfare Department (JKM) is taking steps to improve the delivery system.

The department would reduce bureaucracy and conduct a scheduled review of the aid delivery system, she said in her reply.
