Western Digital 明年3月关闭，日本日立公司有望接手！

（雪蘭莪‧八打靈再也）人力資源部長拿督蘇巴馬廉披露，從明年1至3月間，預料全國會有102家公司將裁退4749名員工，其中主要為電子業。
他說，1月將有35家公司裁退3111名員工，2月有3家裁退1523名，3月則是64家裁退115名。

這數字包括已在21日宣佈關閉古晉分公司，並裁退1500名員工的威騰電子在內。

雇主裁員須呈報勞工局他也提醒雇主若計劃裁員、推出自願離職計劃、終止臨時員工服務和減薪，必須在30天前填妥解雇表格後告知勞工局，否則將因上述每項行動被罰款不超過1萬令吉。

他週一（12月22日）在“大馬提供訓練有限公司（Malaysian Training Providers Berhad）與人力資源部長拿督蘇巴馬廉第一次拉茶會議”後表示，該部已和相關公司接觸，以確保被裁退的員工，受法律保障的福利不受影響。

另外，他也表示當局已在全國各地設立行動室，指示職員每週收集此區因金融風暴而面對營運困難的公司資料，並呈報中央，以便人力資源部能監督被裁退員工的福利受到保障。

“只要有一名員工的福利不被重視，人力資源部就會採取行動。”

針對被裁退的員工，他表示人力資源部將會協助尋找工作，並提供與下一份工作相關的技能訓練。

電子業需求下降逼裁員納吉：不表示經濟衰退副首相拿督斯里納吉認為，電子業大量裁員主要是因為國內電子業是以出口為主；但是，這不表示國家經濟明年將會面對衰退的趨勢。

他說，由於全球市場，尤其歐美市場需求下降，使電子業領域悲觀態度看待未來發展，才採取裁員步驟。

KUCHING, Dec 23 (Bernama) – The Sarawak state government and Western Digital Media (M) Sdn Bhd will meet in early January to discuss in detail the closure of the latter's factory in the Samajaya Free Industrial Zone here which has affected 1,500 workers.

Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak, Tan Sri Dr George Chan, said the vice president of Western Digital, Datuk Don Blake, in a telephone conversation had agreed to come to Sarawak to find a more effective resolution to the closing of the factory effective March next year.

“I understand that the closure of the factory is a business decision and the state government respects it but there are various issues involving the 1,500 workers that ought to be taken into consideration," he said at a press conference here today.

Dr Chan said Blake's delegation is expected to include a buyer company and a consortium keen on taking over the factory.

"They (the potential buyers) will come to assess for themselves the situation here."

Last Saturday, Western Digital, the world's second largest producer of hard disc drive established in 1973 with factories in Selangor, Penang and Johor, announced its decision to shut down its factory in SJFIZ here citing the global economic slowdown as reason.

All the 1,500 local workers, including 500 engineers and technicians affected, form 10 percent of the 15,000 electronic industry workers in SJFIZ.

Concerned that other factories operating in the SJFIZ will follow suit, Dr Chan who is also Minister of Development and Industrialisation, said that he had met up with all the factory owners here to gauge the problems that they could be currently facing.

"I have been informed that all of them indeed are facing a decline in demand for their products following the global economic downturn.

"However, they have given the assurance that they will try their best to retain their businesses here with various measures including cutting the cost of operations. The decision to shut down their factory will be their last resort and they have promised to inform beforehand the state government of any such decision," he said.

不僅僅是這些，古晉市中心有一間豪華酒店從去年開始就高掛招牌說要出售，價錢是一億五千萬。地點在獨立廣場那裡。

其实WD的关闭，只要和它合作的公司都会有间接的影响。。。

我以前的公司从圣诞节开始就SHUT DOWN，明年一月只会做半个月而已，听说明年可能会开始裁员，它唯一的顾客就是WD。

不是我的公司啦，是我以前做的那间公司，听说今天已经开始炒人了，炒了20多个。明年应该会更惨。 夭寿哦，平安夜炒人，真的是赶尽杀绝。:@ :@

komag (现为WD）算是古晋samajaya最后一间跨国公司（x-fab除外，因为她的前身是“政府机构”），已有整整13年了，未见有其她外国财团来投资，真可悲。。。
之前政府所说的几间台湾，美国，欧洲大型公司有意来设厂，最后还不是落得雷声大，雨点小。。。

其实受影响的不只是WD的1500名员工，还有那些vendors，清洁工人，供应公司等。。。 希望一月会有好消息
