Liverpool Reserves are guaranteed not to finish bottom of the Barclays Premier Reserve League North after a convincing 5-1 win over Newcastle on Wednesday night.
Goals from Mikel San Jose, David Ngog, Damien Plessis and substitute Daniel Pacheco (2) ensured Gary Ablett's men ended a difficult season in style and capped a fine week in which the second-string also claimed the Liverpool Senior Cup.
The victory means Bolton Wanderers will now finish below the Reds who could yet end up as high as seventh, should results go their way.
Ahead of the match Ablett named the likes of Nabil El Zhar, Ngog and Philipp Degen in a strong side that looked well capable of getting the win they required.
The incentive was there for all to see and Liverpool made their intentions clear with a superb first-half display that quite simply blew the Magpies away.
The first shot of the match fell the way of the home side, although Nabil El Zhar's optimistic 30 yard volley flew way over the top of Ole Soderberg's goal.
It may not have been the best of efforts but it was a clear indication of how the remainder of the half would pan out.
With Ngog looking lively up top, the Reds began to stretch the Newcastle backline and on 11 minutes the young striker used the overlapping run of Degen to his advantage before cutting in and cracking a near post effort that was touched just wide by Soderberg.
It was a fine save, but one that served only to delay the inevitable as the home side went in front from the resulting corner. Gerardo Bruna sent a swirling ball to the far post where San Jose rose well to force a header home.
The Reserve champions have found goals hard to come by all season, but it was difficult to see why on this evidence and it wasn't long before they doubled their advantage on the quarter of an hour mark.
Once again the dangerous Ngog was at the heart of it. The Frenchman picked up long ball on the left, powered past his marker and fired a low shot into the far corner.
It was a stunning piece of play and a finish that again highlighted the potential of the 20-year-old.
At this point the hosts were well worth their two-goal cushion and it could so easily have been three on 20 minutes, but Bruna saw his searing free-kick crash back off the woodwork with Soderberg rooted to the spot.
The Argentine's luck may well have been out with a direct route to goal, but he did get his second assist of the match just eight minutes later when his sublime near post free-kick was touched in by Plessis.
Less than half an hour played and Liverpool were already out of sight.
The shell-shocked Geordies did improve as the half came to a close, but the Reds rearguard held firm to maintain their three goal lead at the interval.
With the three points in the bag the second 45 was a less rewarding spectacle. Newcastle improved and could have reduced the arrears through the dangerous Nile Ranger but San Jose and co did well to keep him at bay.
It seemed to be Liverpool's night and after the highly-rated Nikola Saric made his Reds bow with an impressive cameo, fellow substitute Pacheco made it four with a sublime free-kick from 25 yards.
It looked like being the end of the scoring until the Geordies finally grabbed a consolation when Haris Vuckic prodded home after a goalmouth scramble.
The response did little to dampen Liverpool's spirits and they made sure they had the last word two minutes from time when Pacheco raced clean through to coolly fire in the fifth.

Darby：我们并没有发挥出真实水平

今晚，Stephen Darby将率领预备队迎战纽卡斯尔，这是他们本赛季的最后一场比赛，这位预备队队长承认本赛季球队并没有发挥出正常水平。
去年他们还是全国联赛的冠军，但本赛季他们发现一切并不是那么一帆风顺，他希望队友们能以一场胜利结束本赛季的征程。
这场比赛全取三分意味着Gary Ablett的球队不至于在英超预备队北区联赛中积分垫底。

“与博尔顿的那场是我们发挥出了最佳水平，可惜我们丢了四个愚蠢的失球。Jay Spearing上演了帽子戏法，可惜还是无法阻止球队3:4落败。
“我认为击胡尔城那场比赛我们展示出了坚强的意志力，尤其是0：1落后的时候。Damien Plessis打进了扳平比分的一球，随后Gerardo Bruna将比分反超。”
接下来的比赛Ablett的球队凭借着Krisztian Nemeth的进球1：0击败了Waterloo Dock捧得了Liverpool Senior Cup的桂冠。

Darby把胜利献给了Ablett，他表示全队都希望为Ablett夺取这个冠军。
“Gary对我影响深远，我从他身上学到了很多，不仅仅是足球，还有做人，非常高兴能为他夺取这个冠军，”他说到。
这名右后卫自从8岁便来到了俱乐部，目前正与球队商讨新合约的问题，他说：“我们正在商谈新合同的问题，希望问题尽快解决。这意味着我还在教练的未来计划中。
“从个人的观点来讲这赛季我过的非常开心。在联赛杯与热刺的那场比赛中我上演了一队的处子秀，这对我还有我的家人来说是非常自豪的一刻，我还得到了在冠军联赛中亮相的机会。”
今年三月主场对阵桑德兰的那场比赛他本有希望第一次在联赛中首发，但他不幸在训练中受伤了。
“伤病来的太不是时候了，对此我非常失望，”他说。
“单这就是足球的一部分，你只能继续努力的训练等待下一个机会。
“不过很高兴看到教练在需要的时候会想到你，机会不一定在什么时候到来，你要时刻准备好。” |

Promising winger David Amoo netted the winner for Liverpool Under-18s as the FA Youth Cup finalists won 1-0 at Barnsley on Saturday morning.
Hughie McAuley's side were full value for their win and they played some superb attacking football.
"I was really pleased with the tremendous attitude of our boys," McAuley told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"It was a hard and physical game and we played some good football. It was a first class team performance and it was very pleasing.
"We scored a good goal just before half-time when Amoo got what turned out to be the winner.
"We had other chances to increase the lead through Lauri Dalle Valle and Thomas Ince and those two were sharp throughout the game."

只有spearing，darby，是我们培养的。。
其他的都和arsenal和man u一样。。。
都是15，6岁时，从别队买过来的。。。
所以他们青训其实也不是很特出，关键是他们的主帅很敢。。
很敢放他们出场。。
其实贝帅都算敢敢了，只不过，真的技不如人。。。
回想这个season初贝帅也有放plessis出来踢几场，结果。。。。
他又回去reserve team了。。

Jimmy Rice 28 May 2009 |  | Rafa Benitez has revealed how Sami Hyypia's departure this summer could open the first-team door for one of the club's young defenders. | England youth international Martin Kelly and Spanish U21 Mikel San Jose are among a clutch of budding centre-backs waiting in the wings.
While Benitez is refusing to rule out adding to his defensive ranks this summer, the boss is set to include several youngsters in his pre-season plans.
"We will see the young players in pre-season and we can work on different scenarios," Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv. "We will see all of them and after decide. They are young players with a great future here.
"We will see - it depends on them and also it depends on whether we can find someone in the market who can be good for us at the right price."
Meanwhile, Kelly played 90 minutes as England beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-0 in a European U19 Championship qualifier on Wednesday.
The call-up caps a great season for the 19-year-old, who made his senior debut against PSV in December before impressing on a loan spell at Huddersfield.
