Hi to those who will travel to NZ, and those already in NZ,
I wanted to alert you all, if you renting a room together with some housemate you know over there, please be very very careful about your belongings. As we know in NZ is very peaceful, so when you rent a room, normally the room door is without lock, you only can lock the house's main door. The problem is, when your roommate/housemate leaving to other place (not staying together with you anymore), the next few days they will come back to steal your stuff !!(because they already duplicate the house key before passing back to the owner).
This is real case, I am not joking!!! The problem is not on the NZ people there, it is the traveller/backpacker (your so called good housemate/roommate previously). My girlfriend face this two times, first time her Maori housemate left and steal her MP3 player. Then they move to a new house, the second time her "good" Germany housemate left (and come back the next day to steal the whole house when they all go working). This time my fren lost her DSLR camera and laptop, do you know total how much her lost in these 2 incident??? It's more than RM6k !!!! WTF to those a**h*le bastards!!! Some more one day before the German bastard leaving, his housemate do nice nice farewell for him, in return he treat them like this. Really a JERK!!!
I am so sad about these incidents, it's really spoil my impression about the NZ WHS life. I am not saying that NZ WHS is no good, but nowadays it is not as safe as last time, it's getting complicated. So please be very very careful about your belongings and your safety while in NZ, you will never know how your GOOD roommate/housemate will be.
Once again, while you are happily enjoying the WHS life in NZ, please always bear in mind of your safety/belongings. Take care! |
