KUALA LUMPUR: CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets said the placing out of shares by Gamuda Bhd founder and managing director Datuk Lin Yun Ling of two-thirds of his stake at a time when prospects for the company had never been better sends the wrong signal to the market.

“This raises concerns as to whether he knows something that the market does not know as yet,” it said, adding that Lin was on leave and not available for comment.

In a report following Lin placing out 70 million shares or a 3.5% stake in the company last Wednesday, CLSA said the corporate deal raised a few concerns.

The official reason given for the disposal was estate planning, and that Lin has agreed to a lock-up period of 18 months for his remaining 1.6% stake, said CLSA.

Gamuda has, since the filing of the placement, taken a beating and was the most actively traded counter last Friday with 52.34 million shares done. It fell 28 sen to RM3.92.

CLSA said foreign ownership for the stock was more than 50% and there could be further selldown due to uncertainties surrounding the counter.

It said another concern was that if Lin planned to leave the company, there was no clear alternative successor identified to take over.

“He is instrumental in leading the group to be the largest infrastructure group in Malaysia and securing the lucrative contracts for the company.”

“However, Gamuda does have a strong professional management team in place. In the press statement, he (Lin) said that he will remain the managing director of the group,” it said.

CLSA said that while there was no clear evidence to show that fundamentally anything had changed for the company, its share price could see further correction until the uncertainties were cleared.

我没有钱进场了，最近的股灾我伤的很严重下 GAMUDA我四块八买进，还买了一些几个月要到期的油棕w,很担心会变废纸

早上看到它跌到好像跳水似的，还以为应该会跌破3.00，
那里知道下午突然反弹，难道回光返照？

在这个时候回升，令我觉得很疑惑以及很恐惧，担心明/后天跌得更不像样。

如果窝轮到了期都还未卖出，是会被force sell，还是会怎样？

联昌国际证券行指出，金务大、肯油企业（Kencana，5122，主板贸服股）、WCT工程（WCT，9679，主板建筑股）及陈唱摩多（TChong，4405，主板消费产品股）是首选。


分析员相信，金务大的高级管理层将于下个星期采取行动，安抚投资者，让他们确信林云琳对该公司未来的承诺。

分析员也说，肯油企业将获得更多工程，因此前景保持亮丽。陈唱摩多刚推出的Grand Lavina也获得热烈的反应。

他认为，市场每股净利仍有上涨空间，预料比2008年增长15％的预测还更高，此外，回酬率增加将是由建筑、产业、建筑原料、石油与天然气、种植及银行领域贡献。

该证券行分析员认为，建筑、产业、石油与天然气目前较疲弱的股价，与事实互相矛盾。相信这些公司一旦公布最新的季节业绩，他们最终将依据公司的基本面，获得评级上调。

相对的，如果业绩表现令人失望，他们也将下调评级及市场的前景。
