24-04-2008: Maybulk sees three ship sales

KUALA LUMPUR: Shipping company Malaysian Bulk Carriers Bhd (Maybulk)has booked three ship sales so far this year and expects the year to continue to be good, riding on rising dry bulk prices, said its executive chairman Teo Joo Kim.

“The 2008 outlook for the shipping sector is still very good. Last year was a record because of the sale of vessels. We should be quite good this year. Whether we can outperform or have another record year, I can’t comment this point in time,” he said.

He added that last year was a strong year due to its huge profits from the sale of ships. “So far this year, we have booked in three sales of ships which will be reflected in the upcoming first quarter results that will be out sometime in May.”

Teo said the rationale for the sale was because the price was good, and the company had wanted to lock in profits rather than operate the ships. “We are always looking at buying and selling more ships", he added.

He said Maybulk was more inclined to sell its bulk carriers if the market continued to rise, adding that it now has 14 ships, with three of them tankers and 11 bulk carriers.

The Dry Bulk Index is now trading at 8,550, 52.39% up from January.

One of Maybulk’s controlling shareholders, Pacific Carriers Ltd, is a global shipping company that is in three main businesses: freight trading, brokerage and chartering, ship owning/management and feeder and breakbulk liner services. The Singaporean company held a 34.5% stake in Maybulk as at March 8.

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) emerged as Maybulk’s substantial shareholder when it acquired 50.1 million shares on April 8 translating to a 5.02% stake. It now has a 5.31% stake, according to the most recent filing to Bursa.

应该请四伯爽这些Kawan Maybulk来给看法的,我没有研究船运股,只是吹水。

我们知道Maybulk的管理层是很强的,而且熟悉世界船运走势。现在BDI这么高,为何管理层选择卖船,而不是买船呢?

因为他们看BDI好,旧船可以卖个好价钱,所以快快卖。而当他们决定买船时,一定是BDI不好,大家都想卖船不想买船,所以船价便宜的时候。这才是有智慧的管理层的做法。

而散户们要不要买进,这就要看你个人想法了,我个人希望买价安全些,所以会等BDI大跌。BDI几时大跌,我不知道。

如果 BDI 好,那运输费也跟着提高 !!! 有多点船载货,自然也赚得多。。。除非管理层看透了 BDI 会大跌,那卖船才是明智的选择 !!!

我会说管理层看现在BDI高,旧船可以卖个好价钱,所以快快卖。卖船需要时间,所以一定要选好时机。BDI会起一定也会跌,几时呢?

股价在4.40左右被挡下来,现在坐落在3.94上面。
如果进一步下挫,3.66或许值得期待!
闷蛋哥哥有机了!!!
不过由于stochastic触底,可能会有技术反弹,预料不会超过4.18。

有一点非常的不明白,bdi的起落会影响maybulk的股价,为何没人研究油价起对maybulk有什么impact?我观察了很久,都没发现到。有谁能告诉我
