Dry run for new route to Singapore starts Nov 26

JOHOR BARU: The short term access to Singapore through the Sultan Iskandar Building would be phased out in stages starting Nov 26 when a new route was opened.
The 2.1km short term access route, called "F1 Track" due to its many winding routes, will be replaced with a medium term link that stretches 1.2km and will have four straight lanes.
State internal security, public order and traffic chief Supt T. Raveendran who is also a representative for the Immigration and Quarantine Complex's traffic, said a dry run would be carried out on Tuesday for buses, cars and motorcycles that exit Johor.
"The session on Nov 23 will start at 10am and last for an hour. It will help us identify any problems or weaknesses, if any," he told reporters here today.
Once the test runs are completed, the route would be opened for use to traffic while the "F1 Track" would be closed. The route would be fully operational by Jan 13.
According to Raveendran, the opening of the new link would enable lorries that enter from Johor Baru and exit from Woodlands, to use the Sultan Iskandar Building check point.
