An outrage about newspapers
May i kindly know how much is the minimum wages for the lecturers here in INTI International University College? For one thing, I doubt that it is very low, because we all know our rights, don't we?
Anyway, first thing first, i applaud INTI-UC's management that, in the hopes of increasing our literacy rate, provides free STAR newspapers every morning. But my main point of concern is that, WHY ARE THE LECTURERS TAKING STACKS OF NEWSPAPERS THAT INTI HAS PROVIDED FOR THE STUDENTS??
Freshly delivered Star newspapers with those "RAGE" covers will be gone within less than 10 minutes. But what i can't believe is that lecturers, and not students, will be the one who are having those newspapers. Should you wait by the bridge at around 10 in the morning, you would be able to see lecturers holding AT LEAST 3 newspapers, while only a handful of students managed to grab a copy of the newspapers.
Can the lecturers please be more considerate to only take one and share it among themselves? Maybe INTI-UC could try to provide another stack of newpapers for these poor lecturers who can't afford to buy newspapers? Or would this matter be dismissed again as a small matter? If INTI-UC would like to promote more students to read, they should really do something about this.
You would say that if i really want to read a newspaper that much, i would just buy a copy. But again, that's not the point, right? Didn't INTI-UC provide those STAR newpapers with the RAGE covers for us students? (what is RAGE's motto again? I can't remember it anymore. ) Besides, i am not as rich as some of my classmates who have resolved to buying newspapers daily just to catch up with what is happening in Malaysia.
So, the only solution i currently have is to go to the Career and Counselling Centre to read the newspapers. But i believe that before long, i'll just have to read it online on STAR's website. If only the connection isn't so slow... *sigh*
