认购先进控股8.1% A1资本跃升最大股东

（八打灵再也14日讯）透过认购先进控股（HLSCorp，7098，主板消费产品股）的8.1%股权，A1资本私人有限公司（A1 Capital）进而晋升前者的新大股东。

根据交易所资料显示，A1资本是与本月7日在公开市场内，收购先进控股的740万股或8.1%.

《The Edge》报道也引述大马公司委员会网站的资料指出，A1资本的股东是黄振南（译音）和关祥继（译音），各别持股50%；而黄振南也在先进控股持有“重要职位”。

近期内，报章上不时出现先进控股的相关新闻；其中，该公司近日刚曾针对马银行（Maybank，1155，主板金融股）控告它无法偿还3120万令吉款额，而做出反驳。

此外，该公司在去年下半年也使用净有形资产（截至2008年12月31日）的260万令吉或15.9%，以在9月25日购买有股票，包括以171万令吉收购莫实得（Bstead，2771，主板种植股）的48万8600股，以及以89万289令吉收购双溪峇眼（SBagan，2569，主板种植股）的31万9100股。

先进控股执行主席黄敬森（译音）近期曾披露，该公司正计划进一步投资股市，探讨具高增长潜能或新上市的公司，以改善公司盈利。

Stocks to watch: Naim, Kossan, HLS, AE Multi
KUALA LUMPUR: Asian markets are expected to continue to be cautious on Thursday, Jan 14 after the sharp fall on Wednesday which was triggered by China's move to tighten its monetary policy.

On Wall Street, US stocks rose on Wednesday as investors bet on recently weakened TECHNOLOGY [
] and financial shares ahead of earnings from Intel Corp and JPMorgan Chase & Co, taking the Dow Industrials to a fresh 15-month high.

The Dow Jones industrial average gained 53.51 points, or 0.50 percent, to 10,680.77. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index added 9.46 points, or 0.83 percent, to 1,145.68. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 25.59 points, or 1.12 percent, to 2,307.90.

In the afternoon, the government's investment agency, Khazanah Nasional will provide an update on its performance, which would be interesting following its move to reduce its stakes in government-linked companies especially PLUS EXPRESSWAYS BHD [
] and TENAGA NASIONAL BHD [
].

Stocks to watch include Naim Holdings, Kossan Rubber Industries, Hock Lok Siew and Dialog Group. Also on the list would be AE Multi, which was queried by Bursa Securities.

Kossan will ramp up 2010 production by 20% to 10.8 billion pieces to meet strong demand this year, says managing director Lim Kuang Sia.

The latex glove maker, which focuses on selling high-end surgical gloves to medical firms in the US, Europe and Japan, has received orders to last the first half of this year as countries boost healthcare expenditure to guard against the H1N1 flu pandemic.

Glove makers have showed they are resilient, as the stocks managed to close higher after coming under selling pressure earlier in the day.

]'s joint venture (JV), Sinohydro-Naim JV, has secured a RM209.11 million contract to undertake part of the transmission line projects for the Bakun-Similajau transmission system.

Hock Lok Siew Corporation has seen the entry of a new substantial shareholder. A1 Capital Sdn Bhd emerged as a substantial shareholder on Jan 7 when it acquired 7.4 million HLS shares, or an 8.1% stake in the company, in the open market.

Petra Perdana's shares should perk up after the compay said it had identified experienced supervisors and managers within the company to perform relevant job functions pending the appointment of the independent consultants.

In AE Multi, the compay said due to the change in the dynamics in the printed circuit boards industry, it will embark on an exercise to upgrade, improve its current production capabilities and explore new viable businesses to improve the company’s performance.

AE Multi also said the company has identified a placee for the 10% private placement at 50 sen  which is 10% over the last closing price.

It has also negotiated with an interested party to provide funding for up to RM15 million for two years at an interest rate of 6% per annum subject to the funder having a right to convert debts or any part to equity at 55 sen, or a premium of more than 20% of current closing price.

Dialog Group expects to increase its profit after tax by 20% to 30%, for the current financial year.
Chairman Ngau Boon Keat said the company has been experiencing a steady growth of 30% annually in terms of profit over the years.

Hock Lok Siew sees new substantial shareholder

PETALING JAYA: Hock Lok Siew Corporation Bhd (HLS) has seen the entry of a new substantial shareholder.

A1 Capital Sdn Bhd emerged as a substantial shareholder on Jan 7 when it acquired 7.4 million HLS shares, or an 8.1% stake in the company, in the open market, a Bursa Malaysia filing showed.

HLS, formerly known as Foremost Holdings Bhd, recently made headlines after claiming that it had no records of a corporate guarantee allegedly provided to Malayan Banking Bhd, which is suing the company for failure to repay a total of RM31.2 million with interest.

The company also came under the spotlight towards the second half of last year when it spent RM2.6 million or 15.9% of its net tangible assets (for its financial year ended Dec 31, 2008) to buy quoted securities on Sept 25, 2009. The investment included buying 488,600 shares of Boustead Holdings Bhd for RM1.71 million and 319,100 shares of Sungei Bagan Rubber Co (M) Bhd for RM890,289.

On May 15, 2009, shareholders gave HSL the mandate to invest the company’s funds in any securities, provided that the aggregate consideration of such investment did not exceed 200% of the company’s net tangible asset value based on its latest audited financial statements for the year ended Dec 31, 2008.

HLS’ primary business is the manufacture and sales of speakers and related products. The company was loss-making for three quarters of its financial year ended Dec 31, 2009, and it expects the outlook for its core business to be bleak for the near term. To cope with the expected challenge ahead, it has taken its business in two new directions — property development and securities investment.

According to a Bursa announcement last month, HLS entered into sale and purchase agreements with Duro Metal Industrial Sdn Bhd — a company connected to Ng — to acquire two pieces of freehold land in Ulu Langat, Selangor, for RM375,000 each.

Meanwhile, in a reply to The Edge Financial Daily recently, HLS executive chairman Ooi Chieng Sim said the company was planning to invest further in the equity markets, eyeing companies with high-growth potential or new listings as a means to enhance the company’s earnings.

“Our company is looking forward to fresh opportunities and our master plan is to explore further into investing in potential companies that will attribute high earnings growth to the group,” Ooi said.  

HLS recorded a net loss of RM4.8 million for its nine months to Sept 30, 2009, compared with a net profit of RM7.8 million a year earlier, due to higher costs. Revenue was down 50% to RM12.7 million for the nine-month period from RM25.7 million previously due to the slowdown of the global economy affecting demand for the company’s products.

The stock had dipped to its 52-week low of 18.5 sen on Monday after hitting a 52-week high of 71 sen on Sept 16, 2009. It closed at 20 sen yesterday.
