MICHAEL JACKSON - JACKSON'S NUMBER ONES IS AMERICA'S NUMBER TWO BESTSELLER OF 2009

JACKSON'S NUMBER ONES IS AMERICA'S NUMBER TWO BESTSELLER OF 2009

MICHAEL JACKSON's hits compilation NUMBER ONES remains America's top-selling album and has become the second biggest release of 2009.
Jackson has ruled the U.S. charts since his death in June (09), and though his albums are ineligible for the mainstream Billboard countdown, he's still the King of Pop.
His Number Ones album sold 114,000 copies last week - 15,000 more than rapper Fabolous, who debuts Loso's Way at the top of the Billboard 200.
The hits compilation, which has dominated the Top Comprehensive Albums chart since the pop icon's death, has now sold over 1.3 million units this year - almost 200,000 behind 2009's bestseller, Taylor Swift's Fearless.
Number Ones has been America's best-selling album for five of the past six weeks. Only rockers Daughtry's impressive 269,000 debut of Leave This Town could top it.
Meanwhile, Loso's Way is Fabolous' first number one album.
Daughtry's Leave This Town holds firm at number two on the new countdown and Maxwell's BLACKsummers'night stays put at three.
Last week's U.S. chart-topper, Here We Go Again by Demi Lovato, slips to eight.

MICHAEL終於可以安心下葬了﹗
MICHAEL JACKSON - JACKSON SET FOR BURIALhttp://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/article/jackson-set-for-burial_1112046
JACKSON SET FOR BURIALMICHAEL JACKSON is finally set to be laid to rest - six weeks after he passed away.
Members of the Jackson family have decided to inter the King of Pop at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park cemetery in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills, reportedly filing paperwork allowing officials to proceed with the burial.
The decision comes after the singer's older brotherJermaine publicly argued his sibling should be buried in the grounds ofNeverland, his former home in Santa Barbara, California.
But Jackson's mother Katherine reportedly disagreed, insisting her son never wanted to return to the sprawling estate, whichhe deserted after his child molestation trial in 2005.
Showbiz writer Ross King tells U.K. morning show GMTV, "The wordwe are getting is the family has at last signed papers that means hewill be buried at Forest Lawn Memorial. It's a famous resting place andlots of famous people are buried there.
"For a while, Neverland was mentioned. That almost happenedbut didn't quite come to fruition and what we are getting today is thatthe family has signed papers and Michael will be buried at Forest Lawn cemetery.
"It's certainly one of those places that you can get intobut I'm sure when this news comes out now things will be looked atdifferently there."
Jackson died on 25 June (09) at the age of 50 after suffering a cardiac arrest in his L.A. home.

Michael Jackson's family to launch new dolls of the star and more in Mirror.co.uk's Thursday gossip round-up
http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/n ... up-115875-21575860/

Thursday morning here at Mirror.co.uk's Showbiz Towers and we're not even slightly surprised to hear that a mere five weeks after his death, the family of Michael Jackson is about to cash in on the dead star.

The singer's estate has applied to create merchandising deals for products related to the singer such as stuffed toys, dolls and clothes.

Apparently, the deal will see traditional merchandise such as t-shirts and calendars produced (like there's not enough out there already), as well as 'toys that play the singer's music'.

Yes, it seems the world can't wait for teddy bears that blast out Billie Jean when you press their belly button with your white-sequin-gloved finger.

Maybe they'll also make white shirts splattered in fake blood to look like the top that was found in the bedroom where he died!

Yes, you may think that's a bit sick, but we reckon the speed of this cash-in is too.

Who knows, frankly, what depths will be plumbed. We only hope all the dosh goes to his poor bewildered children, but somehow, we doubt that very much.

Jacko's family has gone into the venture with AEG Live and Bravado International Group Merchandising Services.

Seriously, could they not have waited a bit longer? His body's barely gone cold.

Hey ho, we guess it's not called show'business' for nowt.

Talking of which, here's who else is hustling for dollar in the currency of celebrity today in our gossip round-up...

Building Neverland: Local Contractor Discusses Michael Jackson's Estate

http://www.syvnews.com/articles/2009/08/06/news/news03.txt
http://www.syvnews.com/content/articles/2009/08/06/news/news03_thumb.jpg
Contractor Tony Urquidez displays some of the memorabilia he acquired during
his 20-year business relationship and friendship with the late pop star
Michael Jackson, such as a hat from the ǒSmooth Criminalō video and renderings
of plans for the 2,700-acre property where he worked extensively. / Raiza
Canelon/Staff

When the news of Michael Jacksonós death spread throughout the Santa Ynez
Valley, where the ǒKing of Popō had many admirers, one local man felt a
particularly deep sadness because he knew that his 20-year friendship with
Jackson could never be rekindled.

However, nothing can take away Tony Urquidezós memories of the extensive
construction he did to turn a cattle ranch into Neverland ù from the gatehouse
to the amusement park, train station and other elements ù and even the piece
of equipment he built for the ǒSmooth Criminalō music video.

Recalling his first project in 1988, he said, ǒI was called by a local architect
to bid a proposal for a gate house, but didnót know at the time who it was
for. We werenót the cheapest, but we estimated to get it built faster than
the other bids.ō

Urquidez, who owns Urquidez Construction in Los Olivos, came to think of
his relationship with the late singer as more than just business as they
often spoke on the phone and socialized in the years that followed.

While he was building the gate house, he said, a limousine came down the
driveway and he had to quickly move the truck that was blocking the ranchós
driveway. As the limo drove by, it paused and the window rolled down a bit
so that he could just see two eyes looking at him before it continued on.

That Sunday night after the project was completed, Urquidez received a phone
call from a person claiming to be Michael Jackson. He hung up on him, thinking
it was a joke. The phone rang again, and the person on the other end assured
him it was in fact Michael Jackson. He asked Urquidez to come to a meeting
the next week ù and that was the beginning of Neverland.

ǒWe sat at this huge conference table, and when Michael showed up everyone
got up to greet him. He immediately asked me to step outside with him, and
we took off from everyone, even his bodyguards. We zoomed around the ranch
on a golf cart and he explained his vision for Neverland, the amusement
park, the large animal zoo, theater, train, everything. I just thought to
myself, ūThis guy is goofy,óō Urquidez said.

The next project Urquidez worked on at Neverland was the theater, with a
state-of -the-art sound system, a candy and popcorn bar, a dance room, seats
that had beds, and a stage big enough to fit an elephant under it if need
be.

ǒHe wasnót the demanding type, but more of a little kid that wanted things
immediately. We had crews working all hours of the day, and you could tell
Michael was so excited. He put pressure on me, but it was a different kind
of pressure, a fun pressure,ō Urquidez said.

Once the theater was completed, Urquidez would get calls in the middle of
the night from Jackson, asking

him to come watch a movie or just talking about ideas he had for the next
project.

ǒMichael gave me a mental visual of what he wanted, and I had the freedom
to create. After several projects like the ūMagic Walkway,ó the bridge to
the treehouse, the pirate ship, and the water fort, we had a language to
ourselves. I knew what he was envisioning and I made it happen,ō Urquidez
said.

Urquidezós son Aaron, now 28, said Jackson would call when he was a teenager
and ask him about the latest trends in toys and games, then have him and
his older brother Chris come out to test them.

ǒMy favorite was the water fort. It was made into ūOld Westó buildings and
we would have teams against each other shooting out of water canons and
guns,ō Aaron said.

In researching all the amusement rides and games Jackson had on his ranch,
Urquidez would go to conventions all over the country and even to amusement
parks to test the rides in person.

ǒMichael always had to have the biggest and the best. The upside to all
the strange requests was that I was able to work on projects Ióll never
get to do again,ō he said.

Jacksonós life started to go downhill after he was acquitted by a Santa
Maria jury on child molestation charges and left Neverland for good. In
November Jackson defaulted on a $24.5 million loan backed by the ranch and
sold it to Sycamore Valley Ranch Company LLC for approximately $35 million,
although he still retained an interest in the property.

When Jackson bid farewell to Neverland for good, Urquidez said, he started
hearing less and less from the pop star.

ǒHe would call me and we would have personal talks, but I can say in the
amount of time I spent at Neverland I never saw anything out of the ordinary.
Yes, he had sleepovers, but I never got a weird feeling.

ǒHe asked sometimes for my boys to spend the night, and the only reason
I said no was because I knew they would be up all night eating sugar, and
I didnót want to deal with them like that,ō Urquidez said.

Urquidez still has a high opinion of Jackson, and thinks of him as a philanthropist.
Jackson loved opening his ranch to underprivileged, inner-city and local
children, he said, and when Urquidez built the steam-engine train that looped
around the property, he had direct orders from Jackson to make it possible
for bed-ridden people to ride.

Shortly after the train layout was completed, a bed-ridden, terminally ill
boy with cancer visited Neverland, and he died days after his visit. Urquidez
heard that the boy was all smiles about the train ride, and died peacefully.

As Urquidez recently sifted through the boxes of memorabilia he kept from
Neverland, such as pictures of him working on the steam engine and the Time
magazine from 1993 that showcased the ranchós amusement park, he recalled
instances of Jacksonós personality.

ǒWorking with him so regularly, you forgot how big he was. I got a rare
glimpse into his life and sometimes he would just burst into song or dance
and I would think to myself, ūWow, thatós Michael Jackson!,ō Urquidez said.

He also has throngs of items that Jackson personally gave to him, such as
the original casting for the number 1 symbol off the steam engine, and the
hat from the ǒSmooth Criminalō music video in which Jackson defies gravity.

Urquidez built the hitch that Jackson could clip into the stage, allowing
him to lean forward beyond his center of gravity.

ǒHe was always giving and so considerate. In the years we spent together
he never once tried to buy my affection. Michael was brilliant,ō Urquidez
said.
