V-Ray 1.5 builds on the existing foundation of the V-Ray rendering engine, extends its capabilities and adds many new features:

Pro Booleans

Merge, intersect, subtract, or add meshes to create rich and complex objects. Pro Booleans re-evaluates the topology to remove bad triangles, allowing you to create higher quality meshes with fewer small edges and skinny triangles.
Hair and Cloth Improvements
Easily work with Cloth and Hair in 3ds Max 9. Create, manipulate, and style hair directly in the viewports using standard navigation and selection tools. As of 3ds Max 9, you can cinch waistlines, shorten hems, and tailor clothing in the stack without the need to edit the original pattern to make clothes fit.
XRef Object Enhancements
Many enhancements have been made to XRefs in 3ds Max 9. You can now reference scene geometry, materials, and controllers and can maintain dependencies between XRef’d items. The SIGGRAPH team is preparing for the 34th annual conference in San Diego, Aug. 5-9, 2007. Student Volunteers are an integral part of the conference, providing needed assistance to conference attendees and participants in exchange for entrance to the conference and, in some cases, hotel accommodations and travel grants.

Part A:
Recreate that scene in 3D and render a high resolution image to match the selected movie still as closely as possible. You must match the geometry, lighting, and camera angle. You will be judged on technical skill in this portion of the competition.
Part B:
Use your imagination and redesign that scene according to your own concept. Model it in 3D and render a high resolution image. You must retain the same camera angle from the original movie still (unless your concept requires a change) as well as minimum 25% of the original geometry. It is not necessary for your new scene concept to closely match the storyline of the selected movie. You will be judged on creativity in this portion of the competition.
奖金:
Part A:
* First Place: $1000.00 USD and the winning image will be featured on the ModelUP website.
* Second Place: $500.00 ModelUP credit (redeemable for any digital asset posted on modelup.com) and the winning image will be featured on the ModelUP website.
