不鼓勵以現在的價錢買進。因為在5月份時Citigroups以確定 Reverse Split 10:1(縮小股），短期對股價有很大的衝擊，很可能股價會跌 30-40%之間，自己可以留意下。（也可以參考AIG R/Split後的1個月的股價）

例如：昨晚股價 4.43 買進 1000Units = 4430 美金。
那麼R/Split 後 就會剩下是 100Units， 不過股價還是一樣，變成貴價 44.30.


e.g. 你現在手上有 5000Units 的 2元 Citigroups。那麼本錢是 10,000.00.
在R/Split後，你將只擁有500Units的Citigroups而已。不過本錢還是一樣10000.00，只不過帳目上變成 20元 for 500Units了， 不是2元 for 5000Units。

AIG 是保险公司吗？最近这么多天灾，买保险公司的股票不是很危险？
【對。AIG是保險公司。也不見得有多天災，買保險公司的股票就會危險。有好多的保險公司都不保天災。】

还有你认为初选者，第一次投资要投资多少才够cover水钱呢？
【沒有一定說要投資多少才能Cover水錢。買股票是看個人，最重要是量力而為，用閒錢來買，千萬別借錢來買股票就對了。買 500元/1000元/2000元都可以，沒有規定一定要買多少。大有大的買/小有小的買-沒問題的 - 芬姐第一次買美股時也是只投資S$3800而已 】

股票分割(Stock Split) 是等比例減少或增加發行公司目前流通在外股數，分割的方式有兩種，一種是『正向分割』－將流通在外的股數增加，另一種是『反向分割』－將流通在外的股數減少。分割後股票的市值不變，但會影響股票的價格。

台灣股票市場進行分割的情況好像比較少見，不過美國股市倒是滿常做分割的動作，我發覺當公司股價過低時，這家公司通常會進行反向分割（Reverse Split)，分割後股價會增加，藉以吸投資者（不過長期股價表現，仍是要看公司獲利情而定），分割後流通在外股數減少，給人感覺籌碼較穩定吧～

相反的，當一家公司股價過高時，公司會進行正向分割，分割後股價就會變低，股數相對也增加，對原先股東擁有的股票總市值並不會有影響。但較低的股價，當然也較吸引一般的投資者吧！試想若波克夏的股價若進行正向分割後，股價變便宜了，投資者會不會比較想去買呢？

反向分割：10股變成１股

Citigroup Announces 1-for-10 Reverse Stock Split

NEW YORK—Citigroup Inc. said it will reinstate its dividend, the giant bank's first payout to shareholders since 2009, and execute a 1-for-10 reverse split of its stock that will leave it with fewer shares than before the financial crisis.

While many banks cut their dividends amid the financial meltdown, Citi eliminated its payout. A one-cent quarterly dividend will come in the second quarter of this year following the reverse split, the bank said Monday.

Both moves make it easier for institutional investors to buy the stock, because some mutual funds are barred from buying shares of companies that don't pay a dividend, and the reverse split reduces trading costs, Sandler O'Neill & Partners LP analyst Jeff Harte said.

The decision by the bank's board of directors to reinstate a dividend, made late Friday, came after the Federal Reserve completed its stress test on big banks' health. It also comes after the bank in January swung to a fourth-quarter profit.

Although the dividend is small, the action is "a vote of confidence from the Fed," Mr. Harte said.

Citi last paid a dividend, of one cent, in February 2009, after cutting it three times from a peak of 54 cents in 2007.

The reverse split will eliminate one of the most unwieldy remnants of Citi's massive bailout by the federal government during the financial crisis: its huge volume of nearly 30 billion shares outstanding. Citi's share count swelled as the bank sold stock to boost capital and repay government aid. After the reverse split, Citi will have about 2.9 billion shares outstanding, less than before the financial crisis.

Shrinking the number of shares may reduce its price volatility, reduce the share count, and would allow Citi's stock to trade at a higher price. The stock fell from over $50 in 2007 to below $1 in 2009 and has since struggled to stay above $5.

"The reverse stock split and intention to reinstate a dividend are important steps as we anticipate returning capital to shareholders starting next year," Chief Executive Vikram Pandit said in a press release.

The reverse split has been on Citi's mind at least since 2009. But some individual shareholders may not be happy about it. Often reverse stock splits signal a company's sickness, rather than, as in Citi's case, its recovery.

At the annual meeting last April, one shareholder said, "a reverse split would be the coup de grâce" another said, "A reverse split is a very, very bad thing. A lot of stockholders, a lot of people on Wall Street will short the stock" and bring the price down.

(Indeed, shares of American International Group Inc. fell for four weeks, and almost 50%, after its reverse split on June 30 2009, before it started to rise. Its shares have since doubled.)

Citigroup said it expects the reverse stock split will be effective after the close of trading on May 6, and the stock will start trading on a split-adjusted basis at the opening of trading on May 9.

At the same annual meeting last year, one shareholder appeared to convey the sentiments of many when he demanded, "We want our dividend back."

Mr. Pandit responded, "It's only prudent for us to wait."

On Monday, Citi set the stage for a more meaningful dividend increase next year.

芬姐，看了你的分析也觉得获益不少。我也想多了解关于美股的走势，最近也刚开始投资在genting sp & hph trust.买进价 SGD1.98 & SGD 0.975。其实对美股也蠢蠢欲动，请问有什么该注意的吗？citigroup是否不再值得投资了呢？不好意思，借用此帖发问。。。

正向分割：１股變成10股
股票价格价格很便宜，所以很多人会买。

反向分割：10股變成１股
股票价格变高，所以买的人就会变少？所以股价会跌？ 是吗，芬姐？
如果股价变高了，是否代表股价的起伏会比较慢。
比如： 4.0 -> 8.0   和 40 -> 44 是有分别的，虽然涨幅都是4块。

芬姐真是有钱人，出手就3800. 为什么我会问可不可以cover水钱是因为如果只投资SGD500，水钱都去了50，就表示你要等股票起超过10%才有得赚。

其实有时我不懂买股票的含义。什么时候股票会升，什么时候股票会跌？
股票升是因为很多人买可是没人卖，
股票跌是因为很多人卖可是没人买，

什么叫牛市？什么叫熊市？
