Slightly above average or simply inoffensive. Fans of the genre should enjoy this game, but a fair few will be left unfulfilled.

Andromeda succceeds, despite a host of problem
~PCgamer:8.0/10
Marred by inconsistency and in need of a polish pass, this vast new sci-fi frontier nonetheless rewards dedicated exploration.

While combat is improved over its predecessors it pales compared to rivals in the genre thanks to braindead AI. Facial animations are laughable at times and have a negative impact on the good voice acting. Bugs and performance issues only hamper this further. Andromeda is a good game and I’ve enjoyed my time with it. However, for those who’ve been waiting five years for another Mass Effect adventure, I don’t think it will be good enough.
~IGN: 77/100
Mass Effect: Andromeda is an expansive action role-playing game with a few great moments that recapture the high points of the landmark trilogy that came before it, and energetic combat and fantastic sound effects create a potent sci-fi atmosphere. But without consistently strong writing or a breakout star in its cast to carry it through the long hours and empty spaces, disappointments like a lack of new races, no companion customization, and major performance problems and bugs take their toll.
~Forbes:8.5/10 (PS 4)
While it manages to create a great new hero and crew, there's simply too much busywork, and its big set-pieces aren't quite as memorable as they need to be. Combat is a lot of fun, but the game is so big even that gets tiring in time. The story, though interesting and engaging at times, has far too many loose ends, and it’s often tough to know how or if your decisions really influenced things.
