Johor Sultan in hospital, Tunku Ibrahim appointed acting ruler (Update)
JOHOR BARU: The Tengku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ibrahim Ismail has been appointed acting Ruler of Johor.
The declaration was made by Johor Council of Royal Court secretary Datuk Abdul Rahim Ramli to enable Tunku Ibrahim Ismail to perform the duties of the Sultan of Johor as required under Section 9(1)(b) and 9(2) of the State Constitution 1895.
In the two-page statement, Rahim said that the Johor Royal Council had agreed to the appointment of an acting ruler as Sultan Iskandar Ismail was gravely ill.
The Sultan of Johor has been warded at the Puteri Specialist Hospital in Larkin since Thursday.
Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman had to cut shot his trip to India to return to Malaysia to attend the swearing-in ceremony together with all the state executive councillors.
A stream of VIPs and dignitaries have been visiting the Sultan at the hospital, including Pahang’s Sultan Ahmad Shah, members of the Selangor royal family and former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Sultan Iskandar, born on April 8, 1932 in Johor Baru, was the eighth Agong, reigning from April 26, 1984 to April 25, 1989.
He succeeded his father, Sultan Ismail, to become the 24th Sultan of Johor on May 11, 1981, after his father’s death.
Sultan Iskandar received his early education at Ngee Heng Primary School in Johor Baru before furthering his studies at the English College (now called Sultan Abu Bakar College) there. He later studied at the Trinity Grammar School in Australia and completed his schooling in Britain.
In 1956, he returned to Johor and served as a cadet officer with the Johor Civil Service and was formally appointed the Tengku Mahkota (Crown Prince) on April 29, 1981.
Sultan Iskandar married Sultanah Zanariah binti Tengku Ahmad and the royal couple have 10 children.

小弟在泰国旅行时，泰皇只是病危入院检查而已。泰国人民就伤心流泪祈祷泰皇早日康复
而我们呢？只是一味的想知道何时有假期而已

总之，在我眼中他是很慈祥的老人家，又frendly。。这是我认识的。他跟我讲话时我都完全不懂他是苏丹跟他好像跟顾客开玩笑那样讲话。。他都没放叫人把我捉起来啊 |
