99.4pc of unit trust for Indians taken up

A total of RM496 million or 99.4 per cent of the Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM) units allocated to the Indian community have been taken up so far.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk S.K. Devamany said 3.33 billion additional ASM units had been offered for subscription, of which 50 per cent were offered to the Bumiputeras, 30 per cent to the Chinese community, 15 per cent to the Indian community and 5 per cent for the other ethnic groups.
"The offer will be effective for three months until July 21," he said when replying to Senator G.K. Loga Chitra at the Dewan Negara sitting today.
Loga Chitra wanted to know what were the steps and strategy taken to ensure that the Indian community truly benefited from the distribution of the ASM and Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 recently. |
