Maju Holdings Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Abu Sahid Mohamed has raised his stake in Scomi Bhd to 8.75%. But a bigger development is the likely entry of IJM Corp Bhd as shareholder of Scomi said banking executives familiar with the deal. According to executives, IJM is poised to hold 10% by taking up a new issue of shares. The exercise will see it add RM42m to its coffers based on Scomi's share price of 35 sen yesterday. Two weeks ago Malaysian Rating Corp Bhd downgraded Scomi over a RM200m debt because it encountered delay in completing an asset sale in Nigeria. With the acquisition IJM will be the second largest shareholder after group CEO Shah Hakim who has a collective stake of 14.9%. (Financial Daily) |
