别误会我没有叫人支持 Giant
我是说，我个人不看好古晋市场，古晋才2间 比较有规模的商场 The Spring 和富 ...

你的论点我有同意也有不同意的地方。你说古晋市场比较难攻下是一回事，因为绝大多数的古晋人还是很省，加上市道很不是很好，大家都抱着“去吹冷气少消费”的心态去逛这些消费区，所以尽管人潮多，可是不代表卖衣服鞋子或其他奢侈品的店就预定有生意。反之，如果霸级市场进来，可能引发不同的效应。因为霸级市场卖的是日常用品，古晋人再怎么省还是必须买柴米油盐酱醋茶的。所以只要霸级市场能做到价廉物美，我觉得这才是能在古晋立足的头一个条件。 |

Jardine to invest in 8 more Giant outlets

KUCHING: Jardine Matheson group, owner of Malaysia's Giant hypermarket chain, will invest some RM650mil in eight more Giant hypermarkets in the country this year.
Four of the new hypermarkets are in the Klang Valley and the rest in Sarawak two in Kuching and one each in Sibu and Miri.
The Jardine Matheson group operates Malaysia's Giant hypermarket chain through subsidiary firm Dairy Farm.
Dairy Farm regional director for East Asia Datuk John Coyle said the company would invest RM400mil in the four new Giant hypermarkets in the Klang Valley, and RM250mil in the other four Giant hypermarkets in Sarawak.
“There are now 67 Giant hypermarkets/super stores and 69 Giant supermarkets in Malaysia,” he said after a site tour of the nearly completed building to house the Giant hypermarket in Tabuan Jaya here yesterday.
The Giant hypermarket will form part of Tabuan Tranquility, an integrated mixed development project with a gross development value of RM500mil carried out by Ibraco Bhd.
Ibraco deputy chairman Datuk Dr Philip Ting, group managing director/CEO Chew Chiaw Han and senior director Datuk Wee Song Ching briefed Jardine Matheson group chairman Sir Henry Keswick and wife Lady Keswick and its top executives on the Giant hypermarket project.
They had earlier toured the Giant hypermarket site near to the 10th Mile Bazzar.
Coyle said all the four Giant hypermarkets in Sarawak would open for business before Christmas, this year.
In Sabah, there are now eight Giant hypermarkets and nine Giant supermarkets.
He said the Malaysian operations had made a “high percentage” contribution to Giant's group sales worldwide but he declined to say by how much.
Coyle said Malaysia's strong stability, good economic growth and business friendly policy had provided a conducive environment for the rapid expansion of the Giant hypermarket chain.
“We see a lot of potential for growth for Giant hypermarkets. We are projecting an annual growth in sales of between 15% and 18%,'' he added.
Ting said Ibraco would hand over the single-storey building which house the Giant hypermarket to Dairy Farm by this July. The Tabuan Jaya hypermarket will occupy 63,000 sq ft, and is the biggest of the four Giant hypermarkets to be set up in Sarawak.
He said about 8% of Kuching population lived in Tabuan Jaya area where Ibraco had completed and delivered some 10,000 units of houses, shops and other commercial properties.
“Over the next 10 years, Ibraco will be building more than 2,000 units of residential and commercial properties in Tabuan Jaya on 150ha of land it owns around the site of Giant hypermarket. This will greatly benefit Giant,'' he added.
