Find the best odds and bet on the Bundesliga. Hertha Berlin have announced the signing of Bayern Munich goalkeeper Thomas Kraft on a free transfer, with the player agreeing a four-year deal.
The 22-year-old will join Markus Babbel's men in the summer with the club looking to stay in the Bundesliga in 2011-12 after earning promotion this campaign.
Kraft had also attracted the attentions of Schalke, who could be in need of a keeper in the summer with Manuel Neuer likely to join Bayern.
However, Hertha have beaten off competition for the youngster, with sporting director Michael Preetz delighted with the club's latest acquisition.
"We are very happy that we managed to sign Thomas [Kraft] for Hertha BSC. When you have the chance to sign a player of his class for free, it would be negligent if we did not show interest," Preetz told the club's official website.
"Thomas Kraft was courted by many clubs because he is a goalkeeper with great ability and potential. This makes me pleased that he will be playing for Hertha."
The player himself is looking forward to the move to Berlin and believes he has made the right decision.
"Hertha is a great challenge for me. Michael Preetz and Markus Babbel have told me of their plans and vision for Hertha and I'm totally convinced. I am very happy to be playing for [Hertha] BSC in the Bundesliga," Kraft said.
The player will officially join his new team-mates on July 1, alongside Tunay Torun, who moves to the club from Hamburg on a free transfer.
