Initial jobless claims jump by 25,000, U.S. says Rise to 471,000 marks reversal in recent downward trend
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The number of people applying forunemployment benefits shot up 25,000 in the latest week, governmentdata showed Thursday, indicating continued weakness in the U.S. jobmarket.
Initial jobless claims rose to 471,000 in the week ended May 15, thehighest level in a month, according to the Labor Department. Aboutone-third of the increase occurred in financially stressed California.
Economists surveyed by MarketWatch predicted initial claims would dropon the week, falling to a seasonally adjusted 440,000 from last week'sreading of 446,000. |

MADRID (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stock market futures turned sharply loweron Thursday, with support levels for the S&P 500 looking shaky asnagging worries over euro area issues and further weakness in thecurrency weighing on the downside.
From sideways trade earlier, futures for the Dow Jones IndustrialAverage sank 137 points, or 1.3%, to 10,405, while futures for theNasdaq 100 fell 30 points, or 1.6%, to 1,838.25. Futures for theS&P 500 fell 16.50 points, or 1.4%, to 1,093.10.
Much of the loss seen on futures ahead of the open is due to technicalfactors, said Christian Tegllund Blaabjerg, chief equity strategist atSaxo Bank, who said he could find no other reason for the sharp lossesahead of the open.
"The S&P 500 is churning around the 200-day moving average of1,100," he said. "If we close below it two, three days in a row, we'llsee 1,044 as the next stopping point," he said. |

Gene #1-22H well located in Williams County, North Dakota, in Township 154 N Range 99 W just Northeast of Williston, flowed at an average rate of 2,406 BOPD and 3,180 MSCFD for a combined rate of 2,936 BOEPD has a working interest of 30.6%.
Gary #1-24H has a 37% working interest, and the well located in Williams County, North Dakota in the proximity of Gene #1-22H is ready to be drilled with a Nabors 688 rig and the initial breaking ground (Spud) will be in the next day or two (May 24-25). The drilling will commence to 5500 feet and that would take approximately 18 days of operation. If you consider the Memorial Day weekend and some casual downtime you should expect an update around June 18th.
Samson has 6 wells in that area with an average working interest of 31% in that area (though neither Gary or Gene are on the map). To the best of knowledge this is the map.
