SINGAPORE, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Casino operator Genting Singapore is planning to raise more than $1 billion through a rights issue, sources familiar with the matter said on Wednesday.
"It's a big issue. Over $1 billion," one source with direct knowledge of the deal told Reuters. Genting shares were suspended earlier on Wednesday.
Genting Singapore, a unit of Malaysia Genting , is building one of the city-state's two integrated casino resorts and is also the largest casino operator in the United Kingdom.
Bankers involved in the deal include UBS , JPMorgan, DBS and Deutsche . (Reporting by Saeed Azhar, editing by Kevin Lim)

For the period, the company reported net loss attributable to equity holders of the company of SGD 7,316,000 or 1.76 cents per diluted share compared to net loss attributable to equity holders of the company of SGD 2,022,000 or 0.63 cents per diluted share for the same period a year ago. The company reported revenue was SGD 10,847,000, decrease of 46.5% compared to SGD 20,155,000 for the same period a year ago, the decrease in revenue from the semi-conductor and electronic industries accounted for 62.3% of total reduction in Group revenue. Loss before tax was SGD 7,691,000 compared to SGD 1,363,000 for the same period a year ago. Net cash generated from operating activities was SGD 120,000 compared to net cash used in operating activities of SGD 1,185,000 for the same period a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was SGD 755,000 compared to SGD 1,236,000 for the same period a year ago.
