Business Name : University Malaysia Sabah Kampus Antarabangsa Labuan(UMSKAL)
Ever heard of a local uni campus called UMSKAL? It stands for University Malaysia Sabah, Kampus Antarabangsa Labuan. Sounds great eh?
This is a so-called "international campus" where the lecturers use partly Malay Language to lecture. How self-bombing. I dont understand y the students here are still spoonfed. If having more malay students is a reason for using Malay Language, then take off the "international" title from the campus. Some lecturers even skip chapters around half the book. The assignments aren't challenging. In short, the level is TOO LOW here. I doubt that the graduates can compete outside.
I've been in here for 2 years and i see no improvement from the lecturers, and in fact, deprovement. Some lecturers are not even qualified, they only have a bachelor's degree and they just tutored for years. Some are master degree holders, and their English level is alot worse than mine. There are even closed cases where lecturers court students while threatening them with their grades. Oh my, sounds like medieval era to me.
Food & drinks is expensive. I understand that in Labuan, everything is imported, but hell, is there no subsidy from the school? Students here are suffering RM3-4 rice with REDUCING amount. Eg: The vegetarian rice costs us RM3.5 with rice and 3 types of vege. I'm from Penang, it only costs around RM2 there. Dont tell me import cause the price to double.
The facilities here are in a chaotic state. The air condition is SPOILED and everyday, students and lecturers have to go through "sweaty" lessons. But anyway, the top floor, the "Pengarah"'s office has pretty comfortable air cond surrounding it =)
The bus stop is just a pole with a tiny bus picture and no protection from sun/rain. The toilets near canteen are STINKY and DIRTY.
Luckily there are only less than 10 China students here, if not, we Malaysians are going to be looked down at, massively. Can't believe, a uni campus that represents Malaysia is so run down. Or rather, is this the true Malaysia?
I feel no pride being in this uni and I regretted that I applied here due to the promising name. If there is anyone who is currenly applying for local uni, DONT EVER CHOOSE UMSKAL. The UMS induk is ok though.
[ My Desire Outcome ] :
Can anyone save the students here in UMSKAL? Law enforcers? Menteri Pendidikan? ANYONE!! Our future is at stake !! |
