MAS Opening Two More Golden Lounges Next Year

PENANG, July 14 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will open two new lounges for its first and business class passengers in Bangkok and Adelaide next year.

MAS Golden Lounge Global manager Sabry Sharif said that for Bangkok, MAS was still awaiting the airport's authority to hand over the premise, expected by April next year, while the one in Adelaide was still under evaluation process.

"With the completion of the two lounges, MAS will have 17 Golden Lounges worldwide including two lounges at the KL International Airport (KLIA) and one each in Langkawi, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Senai, Penang, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, London, Frankfurt, Los Angeles and Singapore," he said.

Speaking to reporters during the soft opening of MAS Golden Lounge at the Penang International Airport here Thursday, he said that KLIA will also have another lounge -- the regional lounge -- to be located at the KLIA main terminal building, which is expected to be ready by April next year.

Occupying an area of about 10,000 square feet, the new lounge will complement the national carrier's existing international lounge at the KLIA satellite building and its domestic Lounge at the main terminal building.

Sabry said that MAS was also in the process of renovating its lounges and Penang was its first domestic lounge that went through the process, followed by London before the end of the year.

He said that MAS will renovate its lounges every five years and next year it planned to renovate Kuching Golden Lounge to split it into two lounges to cater for domestic and international passengers.

He said that Penang's Golden Lounge was upgraded from 3,354 sq ft to 4,802 sq ft to accommodate about 200 passengers per day and will be opened to passengers Friday.

晋不宜建轻快铁，提升交通系统为上策



    (古晋14日讯) 工程部政务次长杨昆贤认为，通过改善和提升现有的公共交通系统服务，才能有效改善古晋市目前所面对的交通阻塞问题。

建轻快铁治标不治本

    他说，在古晋建轻快铁来改善交通阻塞的问题，并不会是一个理想的方法，在目前的阶段也没有这项需要。

    “吉隆坡的轻快铁交通系统便是一个例子，政府花费上数十亿在吉隆坡建轻快铁，可是依然无法改善当地交通阻塞的问题。

    他是今日为第38届马来西亚广东会馆联合会代表大会主持升旗揭幕礼后，受邀致词如此的表示。

    杨昆贤指出，虽然古晋市的交通非常阻塞，但是与其它大城市相比起来，情况还不至於太严重。

    他称，随着古晋市人口的增加，交通工具也增加，当每个人都驾着汽车出门的情况下，交通自然会阻塞。

    他表示，在解决古晋市交通日益阻塞的问题上，政府需要一个长期的计划，才能够确保有关的问题能获得解决，这包括改善和提升古晋市的公共交通服务系统。

San Chin launches 2 major projects

KUCHING-BASED San Chin Realty Sdn Bhd has launched two major projects that involve the development of 120 houses and 37 commercial shop houses in the outskirts of the city.

The proposed Taman San Chin along Jalan Tondong-Batu Kawa comprises 85 double-storey terraced houses priced from RM189,900, 25 single-storey terraced houses from RM159,900, and 10 double-storey semi-detached units from RM310,000.

Managing director John Lee Chin Seng said the housing estate would have a children's playground, a garden and running tracks.

He said the shop houses in the proposed 3rd Exchange in Jalan Penrissen were priced between RM1.1mil and RM1.4mil.

“The projects are expected to be completed in 18 months,” he said at the launching ceremony which was officiated by state Assistant Urban Development Minister Datuk Alfred Yap Chin Loi early this month.  

Yap also opened the San Chin showroom in Central Park Commercial Centre.

Lee said the company had introduced innovative modern designs for the 3rd Exchange shop houses.

In conjunction with the launches, the company rewarded buyers who made bookings for the houses or shop houses with television sets or air conditioners.

建设轻快铁一案泡汤，主要是轻快铁在大马还不成熟，技术、策略、规划等多个方面还有待加强，还得向外国多多学习，再加上投资金额庞大，古晋地理环境的不适，才造成这样的结果。古晋人口已经是达到设立轻快铁的指标，加上外省区的人口，再加上每年的人流量，古晋人口不少于80万。

Court Portal Ready For Use Under 9th Malaysia Plan

SEREMBAN, July 21 (Bernama) -- Members of the public and agencies will be able to conduct business directly with the courts using a portal under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (2006 - 2010).

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Dr M. Kayveas said the portal could now be accessed through the Case Management System (CMS) and Court Recording and Transcription System (CRT) that had been implemented in several courts.

"Under the Eighth Malaysia Plan, the CMS and CRT were implemented as pilot programmes and were only used internally, such as by officers of the courts, the registrars and administrative officers," he said at the opening of the Seremban Courts Complex in Seremban 2 by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Ja'afar Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Thursday.

Under phase one of the project, the CMS was installed in 11 courts in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur and the CRT in only two selected courts.

Later, others like the police, lawyers and the public would be able to use the system when it is equipped with security features, he said.

In a statement, Kayveas said 23 court projects had been completed under the Eighth Malaysia Plan, including three court renovation projects.

Others included the construction of court buildings in Labuan, Kuching, Bukit Mertajam, Jelebu, Gua Musang, Shah Alam and Bangi.

Five projects were being implemented, 13 were still on the drawing board and one was in the process of having the location identified, he said.

The whole cost of developing court buildings under the Eighth Malaysia Plan involving 62 projects, was RM511.52 million, he said.

旅游展9月16至18日晋举行 推出超值旅游配套

　　（本报古晋21日讯）万众期待的“2005年马来西亚旅游同业协会旅游展”将于9月16日至18日再次假古晋猫眼岭停车场举行。

    是项盛会今年步入第二个年头，是由马来西亚旅游同业协会砂区分会举办，并由州城市发展与旅游部、大马旅游部及马航所协办。

    州城市发展与旅游部长拿督斯里黄顺舸表示，马拉西亚旅游同业协会举办旅游展配合了该部门促进旅游业发展的努力，因此，他相信今年可以办得更加成功，且可以得到令人鼓舞的反应。

    与此同时，“2005年马来西亚旅游同业协会旅游展”筹委会主席蔡和祯今早于一项记者会上表示，今年预料会有超过120个参展柜台，基于参展单位比去年增加了50%，今年的展览将比去年更大规模。

料逾120柜台参展

    他续说，今年的旅游展预料将有其他州属的旅行社参与，包括吉兰丹、丁加奴、彭亨、吉打与霹雳。

    他相信在那为期三天的旅游展中将会有许多特别的旅游配套与价格，让人们选购。“去年，我们的旅游展共吸引了超过1万1千760人的参与，销售额达420万令吉。”他也表示，举办旅游展的目的包括让本地人了解州内、国内甚至是海外的旅游配套，促进州内旅游并成为旅游业者向客户进行促销活动的互动平台。

    “此外，我们也希望通过此旅游展让客户享有特别的旅游优惠配套并提高协会会员们的销售额。”

    他指出，协会会员的参展费用介于700令吉至1千令吉之间，而非会员的参展费用则介于1千300令吉至1千800令吉之间。
“无法前往三天旅游展的人士大可放心，他们也可以在展览会进行期间向任何邻近的参展旅行社购买旅游配套，或上网订购。”

巴达旺市议会第9大马计划下 申请6千万充基建

　　（本报古晋29日讯）首长署助理部长兼城市发展部助理部长拿督叶金来披露，在第八大马计划下，政府拨出2千300万令吉予巴达旺市议会，作为基本建设发展用途。而在第九大马计划下该市议会已经向政府申请6千万令吉，作为同一用途。

    “在第九大马计划中，巴达旺市议会将专注提升道路、改善排水系统、垃圾服务及提供辖区内居民更有素质的服务，这包括城镇与乡镇，如石角新市镇、哥打圣淘沙、哥打巴达旺、新生村、大富村、来拓村及其他甘榜。”

提升道路改善排水

    他是今日为巴达旺日主持开幕仪式上致词时，如是表示。无可否认，巴达旺市议会需要居民的支持与配合，才能达到市议会的目标与愿景。

    “市民们也有份于市议会的成就，除了充当市议会的耳目之外，我也希望他们能够作出积极的贡献，包括按时缴交门牌税、维护市议会的整洁、爱护公物，以及提出建设性的意见，协助市议会改善他们的服务。”

    他希望巴达旺市议会在明年庆祝升格10周年庆时，能够举办发展回顾展览，展示该市议会每个年代的进步发展与蜕变。他说，人民将会惊奇的从中发现到，巴达旺经历多大的变化与发展。

冀办10周年回顾展

    他鼓励市议会主办园艺美化比赛，并以学校、社区、住宅区等为单位分组比赛，提升市民的环境美化意识。他也呼吁巴达旺市议会内古旧的店屋加以翻新，漆上新漆，让市容焕然一新。

    “事实上，巴达旺市议会的水准已经可以和古晋南市和北市市政局平起平坐，相信在不久的将来可以升格为市政局成为砂州辖区最大的市政局之一。”

    叶金来说，当年他当议会主席时，商店房屋只有2万多个，目前已增加到4万多个，而且还有更多的房屋发展计划已经批准待建。

【古晋升格为市17周年庆典】哈密尤索：古晋极具发展成文化艺术中心潜能

　　（古晋1日讯）古晋北市市长阿都哈密尤索指出，基于各族人民世代传承而来的丰富文化遗产，古晋市是极具潜能发展成为一个文化与艺术中心。

　　他认为，只要能为砂拉越州本土的丰富文化发展，提供巩固的平台作出宣扬与推广，古晋市是可塑造为国内的一个文化中心。

　　他表示，这个文化的平台诸如可寻求在州内尤其是古晋地区设立一个足以容纳成千上万观众的国际级剧院，供举行大型文化节目演出，一来让民间文化发扬光大，另外也吸引国内外游客到来，进一步打响古晋市在国际上的名堂。

　　这是他今早在进入第17年的古晋城市日纪念庆典开幕仪式上致词时，这么指出的。

　　他也透露，北市市政局继不久前成功主办“汉丽宝公主”舞台剧，获得叫好叫座的热烈反应之后，已拟于明年的5月至7月间举办另一项同样世界级水平，以伟大艺人丹斯里比南利生平故事所编制的大型的舞台剧演出活动。

　　他说，以砂拉越州坐拥有丰富文化为例，本地也可策划举办以山都望公主传奇故事作蓝本的舞台剧演出，相信同样也能吸引国内外旅客，掀起另一轮的轰动。

　　市长称，北市在古晋节前夕即上个月23日至25日首次举办“汉丽宝公主”舞台剧，3个晚上的这项国际水准的舞台剧演出，出乎意料的吸引了共1万名公众的捧场支持，这无疑是为古晋市于将后展开策划与举办国际性舞台剧与文化演出活动注上一支强心剂！

　　他重申，本地举办大型文化舞台剧活动需要民众与旅客的大力支持，这对于推广本土丰富之文化遗产是大有帮助的。

　　与此同时，他指出，今年古晋节主题“古晋——更具活力与文化的城市”，乃与北市本身拥有的“有文化的社会”相当吻合的。

　　他称，更具活力与文化城市的主题是寓意深远，主要是阐明在塑造古晋市为一个在硬体建设进步与社会富足的城市之同时，也要做好社会文化建设的工作，以促进市民的内心修养，因此，透过举办更多的文化与艺术活动以达致平衡社会发展之目标，是十分的重要。

　　此外，他表示，古晋南北市政局一如往年，以及携手合作策划与举办一系列的古晋节庆祝活动，以让民众与外地旅客在整个8月沉淀在欢乐的古晋节气氛中。

首长：晋升市后车辆增6倍 市民收入3倍增长

　　（本报古晋1日讯）本州首席部长丕显斯里阿都泰益玛目今天说，人民必须改变把城市美化工作全交由地方议会负责的心态。

    他认为要维护古晋成为一个美丽与友善的城市，所有市民的配合与合作是很重要的。

    他今天在河滨公园为古晋城市日纪念庆典主持开幕礼时，如是说。

游客赞晋友善美丽

    首长说，自从古晋1988年升格为市之后，人民的收入如今已3倍增长，城市的面积也比以前大两倍，人口也急剧增加到现今的45至50万人，与此同时，本市的车辆也比17年前增加达6倍之多。

    他也称，古晋城市如今也崛起为一个著名旅游目的地，在许多到访游客的印象中，古晋是一个友善、美丽及富有多姿多彩文化的城市。

    他说，地方议会的其中首要任务就是要维护本市的这项美誉，尽管这并非是项容易的任务。除了实施现有的制度，地方议会也必要拟定新的系统与指南，确保持续维持城市的整齐与美观，同时也是为了迎合市民日益高趋的需求。

市民需分担责任

    “要做到这一点，当然也必须获得全体市民的配合与合作。人民不该持有把城市的美化工作全交由地方议会去负责的心态，心想只要有按时缴交税务就可以了。如果真得全交由地方议会来负责一切的话，人民可能需还比现在高出3至4倍的税务。”
首长泰益玛目认为，如果要落实建立古晋成为一个美好城市的5大基本目标，促进地方议会与人民的合作精神是不可或缺的。

    他续说，这5大基本目标包括安全、健康、清洁、友善及富有文化的城市。地方议会可通过举行各项活动来达致目标，例如招募更多的志愿人士来推动社会活动、举办睦邻计划、或通过庆祝会来唤起人民的意识等。

晋商场水准待提高

    他认为古晋商场的服务水平仍有待提升，目前美里可说是本州最理想的购物天堂。因此，古晋必须急起直追，设法提高购物商场的服务水平，以吸引更多游客前来旅游购物，否则游客将宁愿选择到吉隆坡及新加坡购物。

    他赞扬南北市政局在推动文化活动方面表现积极的态度，例如最近举办的汉丽宝舞台剧表演获得了市民的热烈响应。他鼓励地方议会通过举行音乐会、舞蹈表演及舞台剧来推动文化活动和促进文化交流，通过此举将有助把本市塑造成富有文化的城市，同时也藉此拉近领袖与基层人民之间的鸿沟。

Maybank opens Kuching Islamic branch

MALAYAN Banking Bhd (Maybank) has opened its first full-fledged Islamic banking branch in Sarawak.

The AlIdrus Islamic branch in Kuching was also Maybank’s 10th Islamic branch nationwide, Maybank said in a statement yesterday.

Deputy president Agil Natt said the AlIdrus branch would focus on offering exclusively the group’s Islamic products and services.

These include Islamic savings and current account, the 3-in-1 Premier Account, syariah-compliant investment funds, unit trusts, takaful plans, mortgage and financing facilities.

Agil said the branch would meet the growing needs for Islamic banking products and services among the bank’s customers in Sarawak, especially Kuching.

Maybank has 17 branches in Sarawak that offer both conventional and Islamic banking products. It has been also providing Islamic financial services for business customers in Sarawak through a network of business centres in Kuching, Miri and Sibu.

Maybank is the biggest provider of Islamic banking in the country, with total financing over RM17bil, or about a third of the market.  

Agil said one more Islamic branch would be opened in Johor Baru soon to meet the needs of Islamic banking in the country.

Euromobil opens Audi 3S centre in Kuching

EUROMOBIL Sdn Bhd has opened a RM6 million Audi 3S centre in Kuching, Sarawak, in a move to establish an effective sales and after-sales service network throughout Malaysia.

The 3S centre is operated by YLL Auto Sdn Bhd, Euromobil’s first authorised dealer for Audi cars in Sarawak.

“It is part of Euromobil’s initiative to be part of a fast-growing business hub in Sarawak.

“We are very excited to be in Kuching to share what Audi has to offer,” Euromobil chief executive officer Jeffrey Yee said at the opening of YLL Auto in Kuching on Saturday.

Yee is confident that the new A4 model range launched in June will enjoy as great a success in Sarawak as it did in Peninsular Malaysia.

The A4 represents more than 50 per cent of Euromobil’s total sales in 2004.

“It has always been the most significant model from Audi, accounting for around 40 per cent of Audi’s annual sales,” Yee said.

Speaking to reporters later, he said Euromobil targets to triple sales volume this year. For the whole of last year, Euromobile sold about 150 units of Audi of various ranges, with the prices ranging from RM232,000 to RM850,000.

“We look at Sarawak as a fresh market which we believe will expand our business opportunities,” he added.

After Kuching, Yee said, Euromobil is looking to open another dealership in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, next before moving to Miri and Labuan.

“Our target is to have 15 dealers by the end of next year,” Yee added. It has seven dealers throughout Malaysia.

The Kuching Audi centre, located at Rock Road, is the third facility opened outside the Klang Valley after Johor Baru and Penang.

古晋通往西连路提升工程完成，车辆小心行驶以策安全

　　（古晋4日讯）从古晋通往西连路的提升道路工程刚获得完成，因此，欲前往该处的电单车骑士与道路使用者受促特别小心驾驶。

　　根据公共工程部的一项文稿指出，为了道路使用者的安全，凡是欲通往该处的驾驶者应该将车速放慢，并根据路牌的指示行驶，以策安全。

　　与此同时，该文稿也表示，从24公里的芒蒙交通路口处至38公里的Mokpo工厂之双重道路从即日起已开始获得使用，比起之前的单层路线是从38公里至38.5公里。

　　此外，从38.5公里至42公里的邦主甘榜（Kampug Pancur）双重道路也开始使用，之前的单层路线是从42公里至43公里。

　　同时，为了更方便道路使用者，从43公里至59.6的实达文甘榜的双重道路也同样即日起开始获得使用。

Bina Puri secures RM230m S'wak state assembly complex job

Bina Puri Holdings Bhd is believed to have clinched a RM230 million sub-contract for the construction of the proposed Sarawak state assembly complex in Petra Jaya, Kuching.

The main contract of RM296.50 million had been awarded to Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd’s (CMS) 51% subsidiary PPES Works (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd and its joint-venture (JV) partner Naim Cendera Holdings Bhd.

A source says the latest contract would bring Bina Puri’s total order book now to about RM2 billion. The mid-size construction company is believed to have secured about RM700 million worth of new projects this year alone.

“The RM2 billion order book will keep the company busy over the next three years,” the source says.

For the main contract, CMS announced last month that PPES held a 55% stake in the JV, with Naim Cendera holding the remaining 45%. PPES is a 51% subsidiary of CMS and the remaining 49% is held by the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation.

CMS said the JV had received the letter of award and construction was targeted to be completed by September 2007.

The project will house the new administration centre for the state assembly.

Meanwhile, according to the source, another of Bina Puri’s JV is expected to sign a RM600 million toll-highway project in Selangor with the Federal Government by year-end. It is believed that Bina Puri will have a 60% stake in the JV.

The project is believed to be a 33km tolled dual expressway that links the coastal area and the northern region, linking Kuala Selangor to Templer’s Park.

The project, which comes with a concession period of up to 30 years, will have five interchanges, three open toll plazas, one rest area and one service area. It will link the North South Expressway, the Guthrie Corridor and the West Coast Expressway.

虽然很开心看到新的发展计划，但是一些既有的计划却了了无期...例如：
1。padang merdeka 旁的merdeka square/plaza计划，似乎被搁置了好多年了。
2。crown/riverside plaza 旁的建筑空地也被搁置了好久好久。
为什么有关当局从不给予正面的回应呢？
这些废弃的计划说实在的还真的是有损市容呢...
好担心新的计划搞不好也落到一样的下场呢。

砂从2000年到今年六月，成为国内第二大投资州

　　（古晋9日讯）从2000年到今年六月，砂拉越是续森美兰之后国内第二大投资州属。

　　根据马来西亚发展发展局所提供的数据显示，本州在这期间，总共批准了185份制造业的申请，总投资额为241亿令吉，占总投资的16.3巴仙。森美兰在这期间则披露1557份的申请，投资额是320亿令吉，占总投资的21.6巴仙。

　　柔佛州排在第三，批准的制造业项目总共1156项，投资额是175亿令吉，占总投资的11.8巴仙。

　　该局制造业领域副董事阿兹末哈莫尤索今天出席砂拉越投资与贸易对话及研讨会所提呈的一份工作论文中披露，本州从2000年到今年六月，总共批准了的64项的制造业申请，投资总额高达240亿7000万令吉，其中金属产品有13项，投资额是80亿5400万令吉、天然煤气1项，投资额72亿2470万令吉、纸张印刷和出版有4项，投资额是42亿3650万令吉、化学和化学产品有17项，投资额为10亿5130万令吉、木材及木材产品43项，共10亿1780万令吉、电子与电子产品7项，共8亿1000万令吉、食品32项，6亿3600万令吉、石油产品4项为4亿3450万令吉。

　　另一方面，在同一时期，当局总共在民都鲁批准了31项制造领域的发展项目，总投资额为169亿零650万令吉，成为本州最大的投资重镇。其他城镇分别是摩拉达闽6项8亿零630万令吉、古晋24项3亿6810万令吉、实仁甲27项3亿2130万令吉、诗巫29项2亿9340万令吉、格马纳6项链亿9250万令吉、美里15项1亿9420万令吉、瓜拉巴南5项1亿1150万令吉、泗里街4项1亿零78万令吉、朋岭12项9820万令吉、其他26项45亿7030万令吉。
