看来新加坡选民比较无法接受一个太年轻的候选人。。
觉得这次 PAP 的 strategy 可能有点 backfire
SINGAPORE: Minister for Education Ng Eng Hen has said young candidates are necessary to bring in new perspectives to the government.
Dr Ng was responding to questions on recent online criticisms against Ms Tin Pei Ling, who was introduced on Monday by the PAP.
At 27 years old, Ms Tin is the youngest candidate to date in the PAP's slate.
Since she was introduced, she has been the subject of media attention, and the Internet has been abuzz about her suitability and personal life.
Some have questioned her level of experience while others said she should be given a chance to prove herself.
"They too are daunted by the fact that they are young, but if you look at how our previous candidates, who were brought in their late 20s or early 30s, I would say on balance, they have been a very useful feature of our political renewal because they bring in first-hand perspectives from that generation," Dr Ng said.
Fellow PAP candidate Vikram Nair said: "I've known Peiling reasonably well and I've worked with her on a couple of things, including the YP, and I think she is quite mature for her age.
"I'm not sure what the full extent of the attacks are but I've heard some of it has been fairly crass and pretty much dug up personal information and chucked whatever spin on it.
"But knowing her personally, I think she should be able to carry out the job; she's worked extremely hard, she's very organised, she gets people together, she gets things done".
