转转两圈就回去西马,

RM1 Billion Additional Allocation For Sarawak
KUCHING, June 10 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Tuesday announced an additional allocation of RM1 billion for Sarawak to implement basic infrastructural projects with special emphasis on the needs of the rural areas.
The Prime Minister said the Cabinet recently approved the additional allocation which would be managed by the Prime Minister's Department.
"The federal government is deeply concerned about the need for development in Sarawak. However, this cannot be done within a short time span due to the vastness of the state and the limited financial allocation," he told reporters at the Kuching International Airport, here after concluding a one-day working visit to Sarawak.
Abdullah, who had asked the Rural and Regional Development Minister to give special attention to Sarawak and Sabah in view of their topography and vast land area, said the development agenda took centre stage in the federal government's programmes for the state.
Issues on basic amenities and lack of water and electricity supplies in the rural areas would be discussed by the Cabinet Committee on Investment and Infrastructure (JKPI), chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, which would meet on June 20, he said.
Abdullah said the Education Ministry had also given special emphasis on rural schools by providing 24-hour water and electricity supplies with an allocation of RM3.9 billion.
He also announced that the federal government had agreed to bear the cost of renting helicopters amounting to RM15,000 per month for each member of parliament in Sarawak to visit remote parliamentary constituencies.
With regard to poverty eradication, he said focus would be given to the development of agropolitan projects, which were based on agriculture and agro-based industries in Sarawak which would enable the participants to increase their monthly income from RM300 to RM1,500 and above.
"The government is determined to eradicate hardcore poverty and reduce the poverty rate to 2.8 per cent by 2010 and had set up a group focusing on poverty to coordinate the implementation of programmes aimed at eliminating the problem," he said.
So far, 42,654 families earning less than RM1,500 per month in Sarawak had been identified in a census which would be used as inputs for the National Poverty Data Bank (e-KASIH).
On the participation of Sarawakians in the federal service in the state, Abdullah said the Public Service Department (JPA) would implement a temporary transfer scheme, as an immediate step, to appoint State Service Officers into the Federal Civil Service at the mid and top level.
"The government had considered various measures to increase the participation of Sarawakians in the Federal Civil Service and filling up the posts of department heads because in the past, not many Sarawakians had opted to join the scheme," he said.
He said Mat Omar Johari, a Sarawakian and former Director of the (Economic) Research Division in the Prime Minister's Department, had been appointed as the new Sarawak Federal Financial Officer as one of the measures to identify serving Sarawakian officers to fill up key posts in the state.
On the allocation for Sarawak under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP), the Prime Minister said the approved allocation continued to rise to RM12.365 billion which represented the fourth largest compared to the other states.
However, the state's requirement was being studied under the 9MP Mid-Term Review which would be finalised this month, he said.
In terms of the implementation of physical projects for the Education Ministry, Sarawak received the second highest allocation under the 9MP with 13 per cent of the overall allocation approved for the education ministry, Abdullah said.
He said the allocation for the development of education in Sarawak was about RM3,015.1 million for the implementation of 2,187 projects.
On his visit to the Tebedu Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex in Bandar Mutiara Tebedu, about 90 km from here, he said bilateral cooperation with Indonesia should be enhanced in an effort to avoid undesired incidents occurring in the Sarawak-Kalimantan Barat border areas.
Currently, there were only 12 border security posts in Sarawak compared to a far greater number on the Indonesian side, he said.
During his one-day visit to the state, he had visited the site for the RM60 million Sekolah Menengah Kerajaan (SMK) Tebedu which was expected to be ready in 2010, and officially opened the RM6.88 million Sungai Sebuyau bridge in Sebuyau, in the district of Simunujan, near here.
