OneTJ ICT Mall set for opening in Q3
KUCHING: The OneTJ ICT Mall in Stutong, which is fully dedicated to Information Communication Technology-related products and services, is set for opening by the third quarter of this year.
It has over 60,000 square feet of retail space, and is reported to have attracted over 40 computer and mobile phone retailers. On completion, OneTJ will have the largest congregation of ICT retailers under one roof in the state.
The mall is sited in the vicinity of the exclusive Tabuan Jaya Baru, Height Drives, Woodlands and BDC residential enclaves.
In the outskirts are University Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), UiTM campus, Sarawak International Medical Centre (SIMC), Samajaya Free Trade Zone, and other institutions of higher learning.
These areas have high-density ICT-savvy population, making them ideal catchment areas for the mall.
The mall is also easily assessible from other parts of the city, especially the newly built Jalan Stutong.
The new KIA-Stutong link, which is under construction, connects the mall to Kuching International Airport and Kuching Trans-Borneo transportation hub at Mile 4.
Developed by Kenbest Sdn Bhd, the mall is not aimed at competing against existing ICT retailers.
Rather, it provides a more convenient alternative away for the usual hotspot for shoppers scouting for good ICT deals under one roof or just chilling away at many of OneTJ boutique restaurants.
An added advantage of not being in the usual ‘location’ is the cost. The rental per square feet of OneTJ is reported to be less than the norm, and therefore it enables retailers to give more competitive pricing on their ICT products.
Another interesting concept adopted by the mall is its commitment to nurturing the local ICT community. This is evidenced from the recent launch of the mall’s ‘areUone.net’ website.
On the website, registered members can discuss various issues with local perspective on the site’s forum. When the mall opens, they can get in touch with retailers at OneTJ regarding their ICT purchases.
Online review by a local tech user will also be put up on the site to be shared and discussed with the community.
From time to time, information of upcoming events at OneTJ, online competition, discount vouchers and others will be made available on the site. If OneTJ provides the physical venue for social interaction, areUone.net provides the virtual venue.
In addition, OneTJ is committed to becoming the preferred host of ICT events either by joint ventures with organisers, or providing equipments and facilities for the events, or simply sponsoring the events.
Among activities that have been lined up include computer game competitions, technical seminar on networking security issues, and new ICT product launches.

远我觉得还好，比jalan song 远那么一点点，如果不要塞就没问题。不过有可能会抢走saberkas的生意啦！saberkas讨厌是要转很多圈才有parking位。 |

ICT mall for Kuching

KUCHING: OneTJ, Sarawak’s first shopping mall dedicated to ICT products and services, is set to open by the third quarter of this year.
Construction of the RM20mil mall in Jalan Stutong here started in March last year and is expected to be completed in August.
Developed by Kenbest Sdn Bhd, the mall has total area of 100,000 square feet and net lettable area of 65,000 square feet.

It comprises 80 shoplots over four floors with 20 on each floor, Kenbest managing director Stephen Long said.
“The average area for each shop on level one is 735 square feet while the units on the upper levels are larger, averaging 850 square feet,” he said in an interview recently.
Describing OneTJ as Kuching’s Low Yat Plaza, he said it had attracted over 40 computer and mobile phone retailers.
“This mall is purpose-built for ICT products and services. At present, we have sold about 90% of the shop lots,” he said.
He added that the mall would also have a hair salon, bookshop, fashion outlets, eateries and a food court on the top floor.
The food court will provide free wi-fi service to patrons as well as blogger stations where groups of bloggers can meet.
Other noticeable features include plasma screens, which will be placed on each floor for infotainment and advertisements, 24-hour security with CCTV and subsidised bus service to nearby institutions of higher learning and surrounding areas.
Long said that OneTJ aimed to become the preferred venue for ICT-related events upon its completion.
Several activities have been lined up, including a computer game competition, technical seminar on networking security and new product launches.
