Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE)
and its Integration with Sustainable Building

Without POE, the sustainability of buildings in occupation may only be assumed rather than measured. With increased emphasis on sustainable design technologies, for example passive solar gains and natural ventilation, comfort and functionality of buildings may be compromised, which in turn may hinder steps towards sustainability.



The University was the first course in the UK to fully integrate local and global environmental matters into its undergraduate Building Surveying courses, accredited by the RICS. Over the last 14 years, it has attracted committed staff from industry and academia and built up numerous partnerships with industry and organisations, at home and abroad, covering all aspects of sustainable construction, including design, law, contract, technology, safety and energy.


In 2003/4 POE was undertaken at the Eden Project and at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. At the Eden Project, the POE was of the phase 3 Foundation Building and will be used to inform the phase 4 Education Building. At the Royal Cornwall Hospital, communication routes informing design were assessed.


POE and its Integration with Sustainable Building offers many research themes including the use of technologies, energy in use, the social and economic aspects of sustainability, the procurement and design processes.

建築與用後評估研究 或 Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE)
是 針對建築物或建築環境的使用性以客觀和系統的研究方法加以檢測的一種評量方式。
听说在博大 Part 2 Arch 里有一科 Advanced Building Technology II 由 Ar.KA. AA Dip. 教的 有一部分是学这个。

建築與用後評估研究 有
（1）建築成效評估（building performance），
（2）通用性設計評估（universal design evaluation），
（3）永續性 及 綠建築設計 （sustainable），
（4）無障礙 及 通用性設計 （barrier free），
（5）其它 （others）。

POE 是 "評估研究"。

这是我３年前学的，以前不懂，现在懂了。但出来这么久了都没有学以至用过，所以我觉得是只有大公司才会做的评估，目的是要改善现有建筑物的情况和为未来设计作参考的。
