My father is getting the tuberculosis disease....he has been taken the TB medicine for 2 months(Akurit and Pyrazinamids)....but now he feel itch and tickle...after consult the doctor again...he say stop the Pyrazinamids...but before that he has been say that the TB medicine are non-stopper....it must finish the treatment for six months....so i want to ask that can we stop the Pyrazinamids medicine? Is the medicine cause the itch and tickle? thank you...

hi.. is ur dad taking Akurit 4 now? Akurit 4 is the combination of Rifampicin, Isoniazid, pyrazinamide, ethambutol HCl... Pyrazinamide is always used in combination with other drugs, it is never used on its own as it has no other indicated medical uses... it's used in the first two months of treatment to reduce the duration of treatment required... so, since ur dad has already taken pyrazinamide for 2 months, i think it's ok for him to stop taking the drug ( since the doctor asked ur dad to stop taking it too )... common side effect of pyrazinamide is joints pain... but it's usually not so severe until the patient has to stop the medication... and the most dangerous side effect is hepatotoxicity...

well, for further info, u should consult the doctor... the best way is to ask the doc whatever doubts u have in ur mind because only he / she can give u a better explanation...
