电脑版Bioshock 2将不会玩到Protector Trials and Minerva’s Den!
Hey guys,
I have an update on the status of patches for BioShock 2 and some answers to questions on features that have been outstanding for a while. We will not be adding vending machine sounds into any version of BioShock 2 and we will not be adding playlists for the multiplayer DLC maps – we did look in to both options but due to technical and timing issues, these two fixes are not feasible. We are planning patches for the 360 and PS3 to fix some functionality issues, but they will not drastically change gameplay (and I’ll post the patch notes when I get them – these two items are still in with QA.) We will also not be offering Protector Trials and Minerva’s Den on the PC in the future – and I want to say that I’m sorry for the disappointment this will cause to PC players out there. As always, if any of these issues change in the future, I will update you guys first, but at this point in time I don’t want to make you wait any longer and these are the most definite answers I have and you guys should deem them final decisions.
Please feel free to PM me or email with any questions – I’ll follow up in this thread as best as possible but if I miss your comment, I’m not ignoring you – I might just not have read the post – If this happens, again, just ping me and we can chat.

I have some good news concerning the BioShock 2 PC patch as well as the development of Protector Trials and Minerva's Den for the PC. Not to keep you in suspense any longer, I'll sum it up with one sentence: We have resumed development on all three and they will be coming to PC.
Many of you might be asking "how did that happen?" When we announced that Protector Trials and Minerva's Den would not be coming out for the PC due to technical and timing issues, we received a lot of feedback (much of it understandably expressing disappointment and anger) about our decision. I was also asked for more details about what technical and timing issues we were faced with - and I want to take this time to explain a bit more. In terms of the patch and the Protector Trials, we had a working build but there were bugs in the code that would trigger problems with the game during specific situations, and we were not happy enough with the status of the build to release it for certification with Microsoft. As time moved on, we could not resolve these issues to our standards and so could not release to cert. As with all games, however, the dev cycle must end and patches and updates must conclude so that the team can move on to other projects. We hit that deadline without the content being in a state we were satisfied with, so we did not release it.
I'm happy to announce that the Protector Trials are headed to PC on March 14th - which means that on Monday morning, you'll be downloading away and back in Rapture. (And yes, the Protector Trials are completely free!) Monday will also bring a small patch that fixes, among other things, the mouse sensitivity issues many of you have reported (the full patch notes are below.) We're still working on Minerva's Den and I'll be making a similar announcement to this one as we get closer to a firm launch date for that pack.
Thanks again for your patience, and I look forward to hearing how you fare in the Trials.
Patch Notes
- Fixed unlocalized text in Customize Controls screen.
- Player mouse functionality no longer drops out when the Video Card Driver Warning appears.
- User.ini no longer overwritten when game loads. This should address mouse sensitivity issues as well as many v-sync option bugs.
Minerva's Den will be headed to Games for Windows Live! Within the next day, some of you may notice new achievements appearing - and on May 31st you'll be able to download the final chapter of BioShock 2's story. Minerva's Den will be 800 Microsoft Points and available anywhere that supports Games for Windows Live.
(And, if you can't wait a moment longer to get back to Rapture, download our free add-on, The Protector Trials.) Please note: Both add-on packs require a copy of BioShock 2 to play.
To celebrate the release of Minerva's Den on PC, Steve Gaynor (its lead designer), has written a two-part, behind-the-scenes blog post about the history of the content. You can check out part one now. Part two will be available on release day! Read Steve's post on the 2K Blog now.
I want to personally thank each and every one of you who supported BioShock 2 and Minerva's Den, and for your patience (and excitement) as we finished this content for the PC. I hope you all enjoy your next trip to Rapture - it's only a couple days away.
