NST Online >> No kiss shown, 'Histeria' leads to big letdown
KUALA LUMPUR: The first-ever girl-on-girl kissing scene in a Malaysian movie has gone "missing".
Groans filled one cinema hall here when the highly anticipated smooch did not appear in the screening of horror flick Histeria yesterday.
The intimate scene between Nurliana Samsuddin and Sharifah Norazean, or Scha, turned out to be a no-show in the 96-minute production.
The audience in the packed hall were left disappointed.
A source said the kissing scene was "inadvertently cut" during mass printing at a Bangkok post-production house.
Mohd Nur Syafiq Amin, 16, who had come to watch the movie with 10 friends asked: "What happened to the scene? We were eagerly waiting for the kiss."
Another movie-goer, Tan Shea Ha, also expressed her disappointment. "After all the noise, it turns out to be nothing."
The scene was supposed to have shown Nurliana leaning close to Scha for a kiss. When their lips brush, Scha turns her face away.
What the audience got yesterday was a scene of Nurliana leaning close to Scha. The movie then jumped to another scene.
Reporters who had attended a press preview of the movie some time ago had seen the kissing scene. So how did it go missing?
A source said it could be a technical error.
"Since the post-production house in Bangkok had the original, the producers told them to make another 46 prints for circulation among cinemas here.
"These 46 prints were made after the (press) preview and one or two seconds could have been accidentally cut in Bangkok."
But the kiss is definitely out there, showing in one cinema.
"The print which was shown at the press preview is being shown in one cinema. We just don't know which at the moment," the source said. |
