KUCHING: The Fullhouse Lifestyle Store & Cafe Sdn Bhd (Fullhouse) franchise has finally extended its influence to Sarawak with the grand opening of its eighth branch located at The Hills Shopping Mall.
Founded in 2008 by chief executive officer Adam Swee, the eatery boasts a unique concept from the decoration of the store itself to the menu. Front and centre are the overall design of each branch. Built to resemble a residential unit, each branch has its own garden patio, dining area, living area in where customers can dine on tasteful white furnishings.
“Unique to this branch is the ‘green house’ designed to blend in with Kuching’s image of being a green city,” Swee said in reference to a nearby room walled with glass. The Kuching branch is decorated with green carpets and bushes to emulate a natural environment for diners to enjoy.
Another distinguishing feature that Fullhouse possesses is a fictional background story of a family of four that travelled the world to bring fusion food recipes to Fullhouse, thus solidifying its ‘house’ concept. Its intricate interior design includes a corner that displays photos of the family and sells clothing and gifts that are said to be a hobby of the fictional daughter of the family.
Along with this story comes an opportunity to renew its menu on a yearly basis as the ‘family’ discovered different cuisines during their travels to countries. “We are not just offering food and beverages to our customers but an extensive attraction for the visitors who will appreciate the effort that went into this concept store.”
Specially sent to KL for training, the team of 15 chefs prepare all types of food from Italian pasta to the local curry laksa. The accompanying bar serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Swee went on to explain its magazine-concept menu, “It contains pages of comics and other supplementary material, adding a dash of colour to the mundane act of food-ordering.”
The franchisees of this Kuching branch are brothers Jie Wong and Ken Wong who explained, “We are interested to bring this brand to Sarawak because it attracted us during our visit to one of its KL branches. We were very impressed with the design of the outlet and the surprisingly affordable pricing further convinced us this would be a good business to have.”
Swee highlighted that the company targets all levels of society with its family-friendly concept. He further divulged that two more outlets would be opened in Kuching by 2012, one of which would be in City One Mall, likely to display another unique concept that differs from the brand’s other branches.
