Conversion of iron(2) to iron(3)

请问一下各位,when iron(2) bromide mix with chlorine ,is this reaction involve conversion of iron(2) to iron(3) or displacement of halogen from its halide solution,那么如果两个chemical参起来了,product会是什么呢?

Fe(II) to Fe(III) 需要氧气。 应该没有displacement of halogen，因为dissolution。

这是一个REDOX REACTION.

2Fe^2+(aq)   +   Cl2(g)   =   2Fe^3+(aq)   +   Cl^ -(aq)

所以this reaction involve conversion of iron(2) to iron(3)。product 是看不到的，因为Fe2(Br)3 是soluble的。但颜色已经转变了。iron(2) bromide是浅青色的，慢慢变成了brown colour。 

observation: when yelow greenish gas dissolve in pale green solution, the colour of solution will turn brown colour.
