Johor no longer Umno fortress

9pm: Johor - There is a strong tide against BN in both northern and southern Johor which probably sees Pakatan Harapan capturing at least nine parliament seats.

According to unofficial results, at least an incumbent minister and three incumbent deputy ministers have lost their seats.

They are health minister S.Subramaniam (MIC-Segamat), deputy international trade and industry minister Chua Tee Yong (MCA-Labis), deputy minister in the prime minister's department Razali Ibrahim (Umno-Muar) and deputy natural resources minister Hamim Samuri (Umno-Ledang).

Incumbent Johor exco Ayub Rahmat also lost in the parliament seat of Sekijang.

All the five seats are located in northern Johor.

Meanwhile on the southern side, PKR's Akmal Nasir is leading by more than 10,000 votes in the fight for Johor Bahru against Umno veteran Shahrir Abdul Samad.

With about 50% of the votes counted, it remains to be seen whether Akmal can pick up additional votes in the Malay heartlands.

Should BN lose Johor Bahru, it may also be defeated in the neighbouring seats of Pasir Gudang, Tebrau and Pulai.
