Malaysian Quits Engineering Job To Sell Chicken Rice in Singapore
The higher exchange rate of the Singaporean Dollar is attracting even professionals to quit their jobs in order to work as odd jobs in Singapore, as it is presumed that odd jobs in Singapore pays better than professional jobs in Malaysia.
Highly qualified professionals would also not think twice to join Singapore’s workforce rather than staying in Malaysia.
In an interview withThe Star, A27-year-old Malaysian engineer from Penang, spoke about how he is moving to Singapore to start selling chicken rice, as the move has the potential to increase his monthly income.
“After eight years in this field, it’s time for a change. The economy is slow. It’s tough asking for higher pay here. I tried to apply for an engineering position in Singapore but bosses there say they can get two engineers from China for the salary I’m asking. So, I’ll sell chicken rice there instead.”
He thinks he’ll earn more in Singapore with a basic pay of SGD1,500 (RM4,500) and a commission of SGD0.50 (RM1.50) for every plate of rice sold.
“My accommodation, food and health care are all taken care of. The stall and ingredients are all provided.”
Meanwhile, Mohd Yusof Zakaria, 39, explained that taking up a job in Singapore, has allowed him to buy a car and a house in Malaysia.

“经过八年在这一领域，这是改变的时候了。经济是缓慢的。这是艰难的，要求更高的工资在这里。我试图在新加坡申请工程学的位置，但那里的老板说，他们可以得到来自中国的两位工程师对我要求的薪水。所以，我会在那儿卖鸡肉饭吧。“
他觉得他会赚更多的在新加坡SGD1,500（RM4,500）的大米每片卖了基本工资和SGD0.50（1.50）的佣金。
“我的住宿，饮食和保健都照顾。都提供摊位和配料。“
与此同时，莫哈末尤索夫扎卡里亚，39，解释说，采取了在新加坡工作，已经让他购买汽车在马来西亚的房子。

唐唐一个Penang Engineer来卖鸡饭
而且看清楚鸡饭摊子也不是他滴
他只不过是个领千五月薪的伙记
真是委屈啊 |

沒說是"8年工程師經驗", 搞不好求學階段也是包括在N years in this field

如果馬勞願意拿每個月S$5,000的中國工程師的薪水，那他要賺取超過
$5,000 - $1,500 (低薪) = $3,500 的佣金
假設賣雞飯，包吃包住，為他一個月省下S$1,000，那他領取的佣金只要超過
$3,500 - $1,000 = $2,500
就比中國工程薪賺更多。
如果他一個月工作25天，那他每天平均需要賣200盤雞飯才行‥
真的有那麼好賣嗎？

這樣算就不是天才了，簡直是神童。堂堂神童賣雞飯，感覺自己的前途一片黑暗啊。
21歲畢業到27歲，六年加求學時期的part time 算進去應該可以算有兩年吧。

有種中學叫獨中，收讀完5年級的學生，12歲入學，中學5年加速課程，16歲高中畢業‥
17歲上大學，高專畢業才19、20歲‥這就是為什麼27歲會有8年工程師的經驗‥
