It is a fact and reality that organizations today face great uncertainty in their external environment. For example the increasing markets competition, internationalization of market, the increasing complexity of technology and others are continually fast changing. In general, the greater the environmental uncertainty, the more attention management in organizations must direct towards the external environment.

This assignment is designed to develop students’ knowledge in understanding the external environment of a business operation. In this section, students are required to write full and detailed text and information for the following:

1)        What is the external environment of an organization?
2)        How do you analysis the external environment of an organization? What are the approaches/ tools and techniques that can be used to do the analysis?
3)        Use examples to illustrate your explanation.
