qs=6除2(1+2)
step 1 ,6除2=3
step 2 ,3(1+2)=?
step 1 (1+2)=3
step 2 6除2 (3)=3(3)=答案9。。。。。 |

6/[2(1+2)] = 1
6/2(1+2) = 9

scientific calculator shows that the answer is 1, 那就证明了PEDMAS的law...

E = Exponent
D = Division
M = Multiplication
A = Addition
S = Subtraction |

。。 。 Email from Professor Andrew C. Aitchison, Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, Cambridge University, United Kingdom...
On Fri, 6 May 2011, 陈星星 wrote: Hi! Sir, Good Evening, I would like to clarify with u regarding to the order
of operation that involved some parentheses (brackets). As far as I
concerned that the order of operation as follow:-
Order of Operations (Mathematics)
1. *Parentheses and Brackets* from the inside out
2. *Exponents* of numbers or parentheses
3. *Multiplication and Division* in the order they appear.
4. *Addition and Subtraction* in the order they appear.
Based on above-mentioned facts, which of the following statement is true?
Kindly define the answer if possible.
a) 6 ÷ 2 (1 + 2) = 6 ÷ 2 (3)
= 6 ÷ 6
= 1
b) 6 ÷ 2 (1 + 2) = 6 ÷ 2 (3)
= 3 x 3
= 9
Note: Answer for statement a) was generated based on a scientific calcular
(CASIO).
With those rules I think b) sicne the divide appears before the multiply
but the Casio may have decided that* implicit* multiply (without
a multiply symbol or operator) has a higher precedence (is done first).
At the level of Mathematics I work there is no one set of rules
- mathematics is about picking a set of rules and seeing what you
can do with those rules.
